10 // From hottie to hell

Natalie's POV

Months. Exactly three months. It has been three damn months, that's four times seven times three which is eighty-four days. Eighty-four fucking days and that jackass hasn't come for me. I was mad. No, I wasn't merely mad. I was hella pissed off.

Here I was, my wolf sulking and whining, eyebags gracing me and my skin a sickly pale colour, waiting around for someone who wasn't coming. The worse thing was I didn't want him to come. I really didn't. However my wolf didn't seem to get the message I was trying to get across as I was forced to sit by the window, day after day, moping for a jerk who would never come. This stupid half-bond was messing with my emotions and I was as moody as they come.

"Nat this really isn't working. How long are you going to sit there, wasting away like a starving corpse?"

I made no sign I heard Jake and sighed in annoyance. Would it be better to just go to him and take a chunk out of his shoulder so that I could finally live in peace? No, no that would defeat the whole point I was enduring this suffering in the first place.

Someone touched my shoulder and shook me out of my trance. "Natalie I'm being serious right now you're scaring me."

I looked at Jake with a helpless smile. "How long do you think it will be before this wears off?" I was fed up with the unwanted feeling of loneliness.

He held my hands which were bandaged, blisters sprouting everywhere. Another pleasant side effect of the half-bond. "Nat do you want to go somewhere? Do something? Anything." The last part he whispered, his eyes pleading me.

"Look Jake, I'm strong okay. This outer appearance isn't me. It's not me." I repeated more firmly for him to hear.

He stared at my eyes and saw the stubborn spark which was still there. "Do you want to go out?" he asked cautiously.

I hesitated. At his words, my wolf was howling in defiance, not wanting to leave the house in case the Gruffalo came. As if he would come, I snorted. That overgrown bat was probably residing in his castle with a bunch of naked women surrounding him while I was here physically wasting away. I growled in annoyance. He wasn't affected by this curse so why should I be?

Shutting my wolf out, I grinned at Jake. "You're eighteen right? Although you're not yet the legal age... Want to go have some fun?"

He laughed in relief at the mischievous glint in my eyes. "You're on."

Partying had been a bad idea. I groaned as a headache assaulted my mind in painful waves. Well, not a totally bad idea. Jake seemed to be having fun, flirting with a cute blonde girl. I sat at the bar and the man behind the counter smiled at me cheekily.

"What can I get ya love?" He had a faint foreign accent and I couldn't quite place where I'd heard it before.

"If you have medication for headaches then I'll gladly take it." Already knowing he wouldn't have any, why would a bartender have paracetamol on him? I slouched on the counter and ordered a glass of water.
