We finally step out of the Portal and a wicked smile comes upon my face. I follow my father to a room where he gently places Jace down and I finally realise what I should have earlier. I stand to the side astounded at the information I've just figured out as my father turns to me with a smile. My eyes flicker to Jace as I cock my head in confusion. What I think can't possibly be true can it?
"Is it true father? Is Jace my brother?"
"My clever girl. It is true and I had to hide it from the both of you to keep you safe. The Clave was on to me all those years ago and I had to fake my death again to keep the both of you safe."
"I understand father. To think that somehow, we'd find our way back to one another after all those years. I knew in my heart that my twin never died no matter what mum told me. Why did his hair change then? Mine stayed the same as a child and up to this point."
"I forget your memory and I guess I'll tell you this. You must keep it a secret if they take you though. By the way why do you only have a katana I would have thought you would be better prepared."
"Abbadon happened earlier today. I threw my daggers and they stuck in her. She was sent home before I could pull my daggers out."
"Alright then. What you must not tell anyone is that Jace is not your brother, but I will tell him and Clarissa that they are brother and sister. I have your brother hidden away until I am sure he is needed for my plan."
"I'll tend to Jace for the time being. It'll sway him towards our side when he believes that we are both prisoners."
"Brilliant as always my darling child." He says before kissing my forehead and leaving the room.
I pull out my stele and draw an iratze on his skin before moving to the sink. I place a bowl under the tap and gather water before picking up a rag. I walk back to Jace before dipping the rag in the water and tipping his head up. I begin cleaning the wound when he jolts up and flies away from me. I make my eyes wide and fill them with fake tears that slowly spill over my cheeks causing him to stiffen up. As I planned he comes over and kneels in front of me to look me over.
"Jade, where are we?"
"I don't know. I was knocked unconscious by Hodge and when I woke up I was here. I saw you over here and gave you an iratze before you woke up. I was washing the blood out of your hair when you woke up."
"Oh, I'm sorry for startling for you. I wasn't sure who it was when I woke up. I reacted and I'm sorry."
"It's okay though. At least we aren't alone in this place. Who do you think brought us here?"
He shrugs as a knock comes at the door and I make a frightened look appear on my face. Jace pushes me behind him as the door opens and my father appears in the doorway. Jace stiffens up in shock as I hold onto the back of his shirt. I peek around him and give a sly look to my father who looks surprised at my acting skills. Jace is stiff as a board and breathing rapidly. I furrow my brows in confusion before ignoring it as my father comes closer.
"Father? No, it can't be true. I watched you die."
"I'm so sorry my son, but I had to do that to protect you. I didn't want to leave you, but if I didn't they would have killed you." He says calming Jace slightly.
"You both need to clean up. Come with me and you can clean up." Jace looks to me as he says this and I give him wide doe-like eyes.
He nods and my father leads us to a room where he leaves Jace. I go to the next room and shower quickly before wrapping myself in a towel. I go to the room and find a dress sitting on a chair in the room. I quickly dress before brushing my hair and pulling it into a tight bun in case he needs me to fight. I see a pair of boots and pull them on as I enter the hallway where my father is standing as he waits for me. I straighten up under his gaze before giving a smile and listening to hear Jace still in the shower. My father nods and I smirk before taking a deep breath.
"How is your plan going?"
"Perfectly. He believes that we are both prisoners and that I'm terrified of what is to happen. I suspect that Clary will find her way here. What do I do if she makes it to us?"
"Wait for me because then I will tell them. Well I admire your acting and I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in the room."
"Acting is necessary when people think they know the real you. Jace is coming now."
"How do you know?"
"The water in the shower has stopped. It's time for the act to begin." I whisper putting a mask on.
I stand at the door of the room I left and put a slightly frightened look onto my face. I keep my eyes moving to seem as if I'm more terrified then I let on. Jace comes out ruffling his hair and when his eyes land on me he nods to himself. He squeezes my shoulder to give me a sense of comfort as he looks to my father who smiles before walking down the hall. We follow him to a room that has a table set up and a mirror in the corner and I see it for what it truly is. Jace and my father begin speaking as I walk over to the windows looking at our surroundings. I see the stars in the sky giving a sigh at the sight of them. I remember being young and learning about every constellation there is with my father. My father calls me and I look to see that there is food laid out on the table. I carefully cross over to the table before sitting down and eating. I eat some before pushing my plate away. I take a sip of the wine that is in my glass and give a smile. My father smiles in response and I lean back as we wait.
