When Scott, your brother, asks you if Derek is okay. But Stiles tells you he's not.

"Where is Derek? Is he alive?" Scott asked. "Yes." I said. "Have you spoken to him since he left?" "Derek is alive." You said tears filling your eyes. "Derek is dead." Stiles said walking in with Lydia.
I fell to my knees and cried.
"No this can't be he has to be alive no one stays dead in Beacon hills." I sobbed. "(Y/N)..." Scott tried. "No he has to be alive!" I shouted and threw a glass against the wall.
I was crying. The glass shattered into a million pieces just like my heart. Scott kissed my forehead and tried to calm me down. For weeks, no one heard from Derek when all of the sudden he walked in on a meeting.
