Venus Deterzo made it to the lobby of the Aquarius Motel. She took a look at one of aquariums and a TV with a Daily Bugle report saying Spider-Man is theft of something. Venus then felt someone put a necklace around her neck as a familiar voice said, "Boo. Guess who?" Venus gasped, "Morris? What's this?" Morris answered, "I said I'd give you the whole world. This is just the down payment." Venus took off the necklace as she huffed, "Morrie, our relationship is over! You were jealous, overbearing, and made my life miserable! So leave me alone!" She put the necklace on his palm. Morris grabbed Venus' other hand and glared, "At least I never ran out on you like your father did!" Venus hissed, "You shut up about him! We were wrong for each other then and we're wrong for each other now!" She walked out while adding, "That's all I came here to tell you." Morris protested, "Venus, wait!" It was already too late. Unbeknownst to them, Spider-Man was watching the whole thing through a window. He crawled to see Venus leave the building and crawled back to see the guy but he had disappeared. "Hey, where'd that go?" wondered Spider-Man. Instead, he followed Venus. The hotel clerk then found a few wet clothes on the floor as he wondered how it got here.
Venus made it back to Beacon Academy as she was walking by the water fountain. Spider-Man was on one of the trees until suddenly Morris appeared. Venus turned to see him and asked, "Morrie?" Morris said, "I know why you broke up with me, Venus. I had no car, no cash, no class. I was a nobody." Spider-Man thought, 'How'd he beat me here?' Venus shook her head and retorted, "You just don't understand." Morris protested, "Oh, but I do! Things are different now. I can give everything you've ever dreamed of." He grabbed her hand as he demanded, "You must come with me! There's something I have to show you." Venus snatched her hand away as she glowered, "I don't have to do anything! Leave me alone!" Morris snapped, "Fine! Have it your way! I'll show you right now!" He turned to see the water fountain and clenched his teeth. Then the water on the fountain shot high into the sky like a geyser. Several Beacon students took notice as Spider-Man exclaimed, "Kumbaya!" Morris asked smugly, "Not too shabby, huh?" Venus asked, "How'd you do that?" Morris explained, "As long as I'm close to it, I can control the water around me! What do ya think?" Venus answered, "I think you're more crazier than ever." Morris started to walk over to her but Spider-Man grabbed his hand as he said, "Hold it!" Venus asked, "What are you doing here?" Spider-Man peered at her and replied, "A five hundred foot geyser at the Beacon Academy courtyard and wondering why I'm here?" Morris yanked his hand off of Spider-Man's grip as he walked toward Venus and she started to back away. Spider-Man got in between them and repeated, "I said hold it!" Spider-Man shot his arms to grab Morris' shirt but to his surprise, his hands splashed through Morris' chest. Spider-Man was stuck as Morris taunted, "Oh, is the hero Spider-Man stuck? Let me lend you a hand!" Morris turned one of his arms into a shot of water and shot Spider-Man off. He landed on a tree trunk as he thought, 'Am I losing my mind? Did he just turn into liquid?' The water that Spider-Man got soaked with immediately flowed back into Morris' leg. "Now do you understand?" smiled Morris to Venus. "I've been transformed! I can do anything. I can give you whatever you want." Venus retorted, "I don't want anything from you!" She ran into the school leaving a light clone of herself behind as Morris touched it and it disappeared. Enraged, Morris fully transformed into his water like form started to flood the courtyard. Unfortunately, Velvet was in the courtyard. A student yelled, "Somebody call the professor!" A girl yelled, "No, a lifeguard!" Spider-Man swung down and grabbed Velvet out of the water. "Sub-Mariner eat your heart out!" He got her to safety as he swung back to Morris. "This has nothing to do with you," gritted Morris. "So butt out!" Spider-Man quipped, "Can't. They'll take away my huntsman in training license. And there's a strict no surfing policy on the Beacon courtyard, dude!" He webbed up Morris completely as he leaped over him and yanked him into the air. Spider-Man pulled him down as Morris splashed onto the ground . The puddle reshaped into Morris as Spider-Man shot two web lines at Morris but they went through him. "Pathetic," scoffed Morris. "You don't think that you can match the power of Hydro Man, do you?" Spider-Man lunged at him but went through as he fell on the ground and coughed. "Did you say Hydrate Man?" sputtered Spider-Man. "The dogs must love you." Morris corrected angrily, "It's Hydro Man! And it's the last name you'll ever hear!" Spider-Man chuckled, "For someone new to this super villain gig, you certainly got the cliches down!" Morris smirked as he shot a line of water at Spider-Man. He almost tumbled into the water fountain. "The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout," sang Morris. He shot Spider-Man into the fountain as Morris finished, "Down came the rain to wash the spider out!" Morris then forced Spider-Man into the well as he started to drown him. 'Running out of air!' thought Spider-Man as he struggled. Morris snickers until a blast of purple energy hits him. He looks up in dread to see Glynda Goodwitch glaring daggers at him. "How dare you come back and threaten my niece!" shouted Glynda. Pyrrha Nikos ran down and dove into the water as she grabbed Spider-Man and swam back up. Spider-Man coughed and gasped for air. "Thanks," said Spider-Man. "I owe you one." Pyrrha nodded with a smile. Not wishing to get into Glynda's wraith, Morris dove into the fountain as he disappeared into the drain. "That's water under the bridge," said Spider-Man. "But he'll come back." Glynda agreed, "All the more reason to find a safe haven for Venus."
Venus Deterzo was shaking in fear as Peter Parker came into the dorm room. He sat down next to her as she hugged his side and sobbed into his shoulder. Venus stopped as she sniffed, "What I was going to tell you about was about my ex-boyfriend Morris Bench. He seemed nice at first but turned out to be the biggest mistake of my life. Now he's not going to stop until he gets me back. I don't wanna leave you." She cried again as Peter kissed her forehead and promised, "I'm not gonna let that happen. And neither is your aunt. We'll gonna find a safe place for you until we stop Bench." Venus pressed her lips gently on Peter's lips as she nudged her head on Peter's shoulder. 'I promise you that no one will take you away. I promise,' thought Peter as he hugged her close.
