Now, dear children, listen closely
"Shush, don't make any noise."
"Why not?"
I am the pillow that holds your little smiles
The young man before me- I guessed only 20 years of age or so- only brought his finger upon his lips, his glistening blue eye dead serious.
I nodded and kept quiet. His footsteps were light as ash as he walked, like he was a fairy, or simply a figment of my imagination.
Truly...how long had it been since I last was outdoors?I was careful looking around, my glance always falling on his blue and silver locks. I couldn't help and wonder what that eyepatch of his that was so firmly tied hid. Could it be an ugly scar?
Heterochromia?Who knew.
The sky seemed ominous, as much as I would have desired the first night I witnessed after ages to be inviting; as if some kind of grim disturbance would occur any moment now.
My heart aches.
"Pardon?"
"I said nothing."
My heart aches.
I clutched tightly onto my hand, mostly to stop the bleeding, but also because I felt very usnettled. The man before me behaved calmly, as if he believed he was in total control.
Or maybe he was. After what seemed like centuries, we reached a quiet little place. The man motioned me to follow him and sit down, signaling we were safe there, before taking my wounded arm in his hands and inspecting it.
"That's a nasty thing you've got going over there. Are.you feeling alright?"
I smiled. "Truthfully, I'm slightly dizzy."
His eye looked upon me with concern. What an expression. I had completely forgotten such a thing existed.
I am the pillow that carries all your torments
"You're the one that saved me, and yet I never seemed to have caught your name.", I breathed, trying to change the subject to forget the immense amount of pain my body was going through.
"Of course. My name is Ciel Phantomhive."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, my lord."
I thought he only existed in fairy tales. Was I wrong?
I cradled my hand dizzily.
Ciel's bold blue eye- finely matching his name- was the last thing I managed to see before darkness clouded my own eyes. Now, dear child, listen closely
I am the pillow that's shattered by your bed
Turn on the light if you wish to continue on living
Even though your heart aches, will you be able to pull your trigger? My eyelids felt heavy.
How long was I out? Was I alive?
I must have passed out.The lighting was not gentle on my eyes upon opening them, but I decided not to lament to myself. After all, I was still alive; I think.
"Miss."
I slowly sat up, looking around as I adjusted to the strange lighting. Where was I?
It felt dry.As I was finally able to distinguish shapes and colors, I noticed a pair of piercing crimson eyes looking at me. This man before me reminded me of something, but I could not put my finger on it just yet.
"Good day, mister. If I may ask, where am I and who are you?" He didn't seem like a threat and my body felt much lighter than before.
"What a polite lady this Miss is." I heard thean mutter between his breath.
I smiled.
The man before me- a man that looked to be in his late twenties- bowed elegantly before embellishing his own face with a smile.
"Good day, Miss. You are into the Estate of the Lord of Phantomhive. I am his butler, Sebastian Michaelis. "
"Pleased to make your acquaintance. I believe I have been in Lord Phantomhive's care this whole time?"
The butler grinned. "Indeed."
"Could I please see him? I would like to thank him."
"I believe the young master would be pleased to see you well."
The butler left the room and I took a long at my arm. It was clean and wrapped in a bandage. Whoever did it for me put a lot of care.
Phantomhive, huh? What a charming name.
The door opened slowly to reveal the same blue orbed man from before.
So he really isn't just a character from a fairy tale."Lord Phantomhive."
"Miss, please just call me Ciel."
I shot him a small questioning look. He was a person of high status, dropping the formalities would be a little unusual. Nonetheless, he was my savior.
"Ciel." I tried the sound of it.
He stepped into the room, closing the door and sitting onto the chair next to the bed I was laying in.
"Thank you for saving me, even though you had no obligation to. "
He nodded."Not even knowing who I am."
The man smiled a little and I could tell he wasn't used to smiling often.
"This is where you're wrong, Miss."I cocked my head to the side.
He took a file of papers from the nightstand and handed them to me, which I gently took.I eyed them with disbelief. All of my information was on those papers.
"Unbelievable. Everything was lost in the fire."
He chuckled. "It was indeed pretty hard gathering all that information, I must say. But, as it is my job, I could not fail to pull through."
His job? Gathering information about me?
"Lilly of England, right?"
"I winced at my old nickname, the nickname that had cursed me with so much suffering.""How do you-"
"As I said, it's my job. "So it's true.
I believed the evil nobleman to be a legend. But again, if the lilly of England existed, why would it be so strange for the watchdog to be legitimate?"I do not associate with that name anymore, Lord Phantomhive."
He looked at me.
"Ciel."His look softened. "I am aware. As I'm aware of your skills. I actually have something to propose to you."
"I am very curious to find out." I said wholeheartedly, shifting a little on the mattress.
My heart aches
"I would like to give you a job as a maid here, in my Manor. I'm aware of the fact that you don't have anywhere else to go."
"That's true." I was a little dumbfounded.
"Truth be told, catching you was my mission."
The evil nobleman is not lie, then.
"Ive decided not to let the Queen know about your position . In return, I'd like you to work here."
It didn't need much thought. Looking back to my old days, I could see there wasn't room for suspicion. I took a deep breath.
"I am in your debt in more than one ways. I accept your offer. Just one question."
The Earl patiently awaited for my answer.
"Why did you decide not to give me away and offer such a chance?"
His blue eye that seemed to take the form of a trademark in my mind showed an interesting expression.
"I have my reasons."
