You stood between Amara and Chuck, Chuck's eyes not leaving you.

Amara looked amused.  "Do you really think that you can just stand in my way?"

"I know I can."  You said.  "I may not be as strong, but I assure you my resolve is sound."

"Y/N..."  Chuck's voice was quiet, a warning, but you did not move.

"You wanted me here Chuck," You said.  "And if you thought I was simply going to sit back and watch her try to hurt you, then you clearly don't remember much about me."

"Mother, you need to get away from her."  Lucifer growled, trying to step forward, but with a snap of her fingers, Amara kept him back.  "Mother-"

"Enough Lucifer, I am more than capable."  You said calmly.  "Now, if I understand correctly, Chuck hurt you?"

"I've been locked away for-"

"A long time, I get it, I do."  You said calmly.  "But here's the thing, this aggressive approach, this violence, this harm of my world, your fued with Chuck does not warrant it."

Amara raises her eyebrows, looking at you stunned.  "And what would you know?  From what I can see, you don't know what it's like to be-"

"Trapped?"  You finished.  "My dear, I have been alive a very long time, and I have never left this world, despite what my power may suggest.  I am stuck here, and no one can ever change that, no matter how much they try."

"Oh?  So you think you understand how I feel?"  Amara asked, stepping closer.  "You think that gives you right to pass judgment on me?"

"Mother, please-"

"Lucifer, let the women speak."  You said, glancing over at him.  "I told you boys from the start that this plan was folly, so now you are going to let me try this my way."  You take a steadying breath.  "I know Amara, that I cannot feel exactly what you've been through, but I can say that I understand.  The turmoil those emotions create can be, and have been, catastrophic.  I know I have certainly done things that I am not proud of, over things that were definitely painful, but certainly not done without-"

"He locked me away and left me, and you think this gives him to right to just keep control?"  Amara snarled.

"He left me too."  You said simply, making Chuck whince behind you.  "No explanation, no goodbye.  Nothing.  Am I angry?  Certainly.  But do I take it out on what he's created?  Maybe once, but that was a long time ago."

"All I wanted to do was talk."  Amara's voice broke.  "All I wanted was to understand why."

"I told them that."  You said quietly.  "Unfortunately for you, your actions have been speaking otherwise, hence such a direct approach."

Amara stares you, seemingly contemplating what you've been saying, her breathing hard.

"Now, torturing my son, that was uncalled for."  You continued quietly, earning a worried look from Lucifer.  "He has done some terrible things, it is true, but to do so just to get the attention of Chuck-"

"Was necessary."  Amara snarled.

You shook your head.  "It was vengeance, and part of the reason I didn't step in straight away."

"Y/N, don't."  Chuck's voice was quiet, so only you could hear.

You ignored him.  "You are lucky I am speaking to you at all, you have, very brazenly killed a lot of my children after all, mostly out of spite, and left more than a few as just little husks."

"Moth-"  Lucifer is cut off as the air shifts around him, closing off his throat.

"Now, if you are willing to talk this through, I'm sure I can forgive some of it."  You said calmly.  "However, if you continue on, I cannot guarantee what will happen."

There was a tense silence, and those that could, felt the power shift in the air, but even Sam and Dean shared an uncomfortable look as Amara observed you.

A small smile reached her lips.  "Oh?  So you are prepared to die then?"

The clash was instantaneous, throwing almost everyone back except for you and Amara as the two of you threw your power at each other.  The ground trembled and the walls shook around you.

You wouldn't have tried this if Amara hadn't already been weakened, you knew that you were going to be lucky to survive as it was.

But you held your ground.

Normally, you wouldn't let yourself go like this, you had become more reserved over the years, calmer, but after what Chuck had told you leading up to this, after what you felt Amara doing for months, after talking to Lucifer about what had happened, you had had enough.

The talking was necessary, you wanted to see what she was like, but you had seen that your words weren't working, so you knew precisely what was going to be the only way.

You could feel yourself sliding back, but you took the opportunity of her distraction at trying to hold your power back.

The ground around Amara's feet began to crack apart, the ground shifting until vines, dirt and mud and deeper things began to creep forward.  You poured everything into that torrent of power, letting it surround Amara who didn't realise what was happening until it was all too late.

You drew in shuddering breathes, exhausted as you staggered back, Chuck's arms there to catch you, to hold you tight as you all stared at the conglomerate statue before you.

"That will not hold her."  Chuck's voice was quiet.  "Y/N, what were you thinking?"

You were too focused on trying to breath right, to keep the trembling feeling of power at your fingertips under control, to answer.

"We need to move."  Sam said.  "We need to leave, now."

Chuck's arms were around you, helping you, and Lucifer was hurrying over too, but as the sounds of cracking and splitting could be heard, you already knew that it was too late.

Amara burst free and a wave of pain shot through you, making you cry out as you feel the ripple of pain through the planet itself, shaking you to your core.

But then Chuck was in front of you.  "Amara, enough!"

"Chuck..."  Your voice was weak, but there was no helping, no protecting him this time.

There was a whirl of confusion around you, Lucifer pulling you away as you could hear Chuck's voice but not see him, but then Lucifer was gone too as pain made your eyes well up and collapse on the ground, next to a figure you quickly recognised as Chuck's.

He wasn't moving.

"Chuck?"  Your hand rested on him and you felt the echo of pain within him.

The air shifted around you, and you looked up with shining eyes to stare at Amara.  You could feel the world dying already, you could feel your world twisting in a way that it never had before, and you had never been more scared for anything in your life.

"What have you done?"  You asked quietly as she stared at you.

The anger dissipated in Amara's gaze a little as she looked at you, looked at the tight grip you had on Chuck's hand, and it is clear that she doesn't know what to make of it.

"You love him," She said quietly.  "That is enough."

With a blink, she was gone and your full attention returned to Chuck.  "Chuck, please."

This wasn't just your world now burning, this was everything in the universe, the longer you held his hand, the more you could feel it, and it made you tremble.

"Chuck!"

Your voice wavered, and it wasn't until a warm coat was placed around your shoulders that you looked up, Castiel looking grim kneeling next to you.  "Come on Mother, let's get you both somewhere safe."
