1988 - "Bad" Tour Rehearsals (Second Leg - Before "Tatiana" Breakup)

MICHAEL

"Uh, oh. Girlfriend alert." Greg Philliganes teased for some reason. Crew members and background vocalists chuckled around me. I scribbled on a notepad, trying to focus on errors we'd made during this rehearsal. Arms draped over my chair, but I soon felt small but gentle hands rub my shoulders. Voices around me gasped upwards, cheering at the flirtation that surrounded me right now.

"Turn around, Michael." Even Sheryl chimed in with a pleased grin behind her microphone, but I wouldn't face Brenda just yet. When I planned to concentrate once more, Brenda gently locked around her arms around me and leaned in to whisper by my ear.

"Daddy, are you finished yet?" she flirted with a lower voice than usual. Even her accent revealed itself for a second. In that moment, I snapped out of concentration and immediately turned to face her.

The notepad and pen slid right off my lap, but I could've less for now. Employees around us once again screamed in the name of my behavior adjustment. I rose from the director styled chair and walked around, swiftly pulling her close to me. Voices around us even snickered, clapping over the noise of their joyful astonishment.

My personal assistant Jolie tossed her head back laughing, but I still scoped Brenda up and down after we pulled away from closeness. My steps circled around her in an unhurried manner. "All right now, Michael!"

But when I signaled for her to move back toward me, an obnoxious voice rang through. It wasn't Frank. It wasn't Turkle (make-up artist Karen Faye). The entire crew hushed while boots rushed into the venue. I wanted to roll my eyes, but chose against it while Michelle stood nearby.

Tatiana showed up late. Again.

As soon as she walked in my direction, Brenda immediately offered the middle finger and pulled me in by the collar for a deep kiss. Without hesitation, I welcomed the gesture and almost hugged her back. Even Frank calmed down his usual fretting to chuckle.

Tatiana shouted over the noise, but I shot her a look when Brenda pulled away from my lips. "What's wrong with you guys? What's so funny?"

I quickly defended myself, more than irritated by now. Everyone else began to work yet again, but Brenda still wouldn't let me go just yet. I didn't want her to anyway. "What? My girlfriend can't kiss me?"

"She's not...." Tatiana groaned like a child as usual. Why couldn't she understand that our one-night together meant absolutely nothing? My foolishly drunken self crossed yet another pointless line. Things were already sour considering the Angel drama. At times, I even began to wonder if B had completely forgiven me about that.

I somehow left Brenda and folded my arms while addressing Tatiana. "Leave if you're going to insult her. And you're late. Again. Why?"

I tossed up both hands when she couldn't answer immediately. "You know, what? I'm done for today. If everybody could come back ready tomorrow, I'd appreciate it. Have a good night."

"You heard him, people! Go home." Frank yelled to everyone and Bill rounded up my usual team of bodyguards. I guided Brenda out of here by the small of her back. In the meantime, Tatiana begged to understand what just took place, but I wouldn't repeat myself at all.

"Michael, Michael!" Tatiana shouted again. I'd draped my around Brenda, but quickly looked back. Both Jennifer Batten and Sheryl Crow worked to hold her back from getting any closer.
