I was sat on the couch with a warm cup of coffee in my hands, my eyelids were closing and all I wanted to do was go back to sleep. This is what only three days of taking care of a newborn does.

I was beyond exhausted, Antoine and I hadn't been able to sleep more than four hours in a row despite Enrique helping us from time to time.

It was 9:00 in the morning and at the moment Antoine was dealing with her while I ate breakfast, which I already did, I just needed to finish my coffee.

Before having her, all I wanted to do was getting out of bed and do anything but now all I wanted to do was crawling back to bed and sleep all day long.

Just minutes after drinking all my coffee, Antoine came and without a word handed me the baby. I took her in my arms and laid her on my lap. Antoine was going to take a shower, which none of us had done since we brought her home and then he was going to pick his parents up from the airport. They will come to meet their granddaughter and celebrate Antoine's birthday, which will be in just one day.

"Hello," I said as I smiled down at my girl. "Hello, Antonella."

Even before we knew we were having a girl, we had decided with Antoine we would call her Bea, or even Beatrice, we called her that at the hospital and the first night we got her home, but eventually Antoine stopped calling her that and started calling her Antonella and soon I did too and then Enrique did as well.

Sometimes I shortened it and called her Anto, but I already call Antoine that, so that would be confusing when she gets older. 'Did you mean Dad or me?', so maybe we could call her Ella instead of Anto or Antonella, because it's quite a long name.

"You will meat your French grandparents today, isn't that exciting?" I cheerfully told her in French.

Honestly, I didn't know in what language we should talk to her, my mother tongue, Antoine's or in Spanish. Since we had came from the hospital, we have talked mostly in French but also in Spanish, Enrique talks to her in Spanish, it's the only language he can speak besides some English.

Then, Belle came and sat next to me, she has been the most interested by the new addition. She always wants to be close to her and last night we caught her getting inside the crib with her and she slept there until Antonella started crying.

Habibi has been curious too, but he usually minds his own business soon after and he goes out of the room whenever she starts crying and Hooki has liked her too but he usually is more interested in playing or going for a walk than a baby, but all of them have been really lovely with her.

Not even twenty minutes later she fell asleep, I waited five more minutes to make sure she was really asleep and then I stood up with her in my arms and took her to her crib. I put her down carefully and then covered her with a small blanket.

She was nine days old and I still felt like I had no idea how to do anything at all. Every time I hold her I feel like I'm doing it wrong, she's too small and too fragile. And every time she cries and we don't really know what it is, I try not to freak out.
