Dating a celebrity was difficult for most, but since I was a normal teenager, I didn’t think it would affect me that much. Naturally, I was wrong. No matter where I went, girls asked me for pictures, people took random photos of me, and sometimes they’d yell at me. Luckily, my boyfriend Niall made everything easier on me.
I woke up earlier than normal one morning, and grabbed my iPhone off the charging dock and checked my texts. I had one from my best friend, Will, asking me to hang out and bake a cake for his sister’s birthday. I didn’t have anything going on during the day so I said yes. Thirty minutes later I drove over to his house, picked him up, and we headed to Kroger to pick up the cake mix and icing. As we were walking down the baked goods aisle, swarms of girls crowded around me, which made me feel claustrophobic. Will knew I was panicking and he wrapped his arm around my shoulder, pulling me close, hiding my face in his chest so the girls couldn’t see me, and I couldn’t hear them yelling at me. He yelled at them to back off, and started rubbing my back softly to make sure I was calm. We grabbed what was necessary and went to check out, paid for the mix and icing then headed back to my car. The girls followed us all the way to my car, taking pictures, and asking him questions. He walked me to my door, opened it for me, and closed it, making sure I was safe. He then jumped in the passenger seat of the car and took a deep breath.
“(Y/N) how do you even deal with it? They’re honestly crazy, following us, taking pictures, and yelling things at you. How do you not break down?” I looked at him, “Because Niall makes it all worth it, I know that’s cheesy, but I can’t help it. I’d rather be with him and dealing with hate, then not being with him.” Will nodded his head, “You really love him, don’t you?” I smiled, “Of course I do. Now let’s go back and bake this cake for Lauren!” I flung my head around and pulled out of the parking spot and drove away.
We headed over to his house and made the cake, and when we finished icing it, I headed back to my house. I had a date with Niall that night, we hadn’t seen each other in about a week but he was stopping by my hometown to see me before going to the next state for a new show. I showered quickly, blowdryed my hair, straightened it, put on some mascara, and threw on a tanktop and shorts. I drove over to his hotel, and when I got to his room he had dinner ready. He had ordered me my favorite food, macaroni and cheese, and had set it out on the table with candles. I hugged him tightly, and he rested his head on my shoulder, kissing my neck. “Mmmm, how I’ve missed this.” He whispered onto my neck. I leaned up and kissed him, and then we sat down to eat.
“So what did you do today, love?” He asked me. I shrugged my shoulders, “Not much, I woke up, erhm, watched a movie with my mom, and then got ready. What about you?” I purposely left out hanging out with Will. Niall never really cared for him, he was always convinced I’d cheat on him with Will. I knew he was jealous of our friendship, but nothing I could do would change his mind. Of course I felt bad about lying, but I had to do it. “Oh, typical schedule; woke up, got hair done, interviews, and then got on the bus to come here. The lads are excited to see you, I promised them I’d bring you over to the room that Harry and Zayn are staying in so they could see you.” I loved spending time with the boys, they all made me laugh so hard I thought I’d pee my pants. They were all so welcoming to me, and I loved watching Niall interact with them. “Sounds good,” I smiled.
When we were done eating, we sat down on the couch together and flipped on the TV. For some odd reason, Niall really enjoyed watching E! News. The boys were downstairs swimming and Liam said he’d text us when they were back upstairs so we could meet up. E! News had just started, and they were reading headlines. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder, and I leaned over onto him, nuzzling my head into his shoulder, breathing lightly on his neck. “Is Niall Horan’s girlfriend cheating on him with a boy from her town?” read the anchor. “Niall Horan’s girlfriend, (Y/N) was seen snuggling up to a boy in her town’s Kroger today while boyfriend Niall is across the country doing tours. Watch out, directioners, the boyband’s hottie might be back on the market.” I shot up, looking at the photos they were flashing of Will and I from earlier today. The pictures didn’t show the fans, but instead showed me cuddling up to him. I couldn’t say anything, I was stunned.
I turned my head to Niall who was just staring at the TV. “Ni-” I started. “No, don’t even bother explaining. Please just leave, you’ve already proven me to be a fool. Please just go.” Tears welled up, “No, please listen to me.” He got up from the couch and walked into the bathroom and locked the door. I got up off the couch and knocked on the door. “Niall…it wasn’t what it looked like. The fans—” “(Y/N) LEAVE. PLEASE, I CAN’T DO THIS ANYMORE. ” He opened the door looking at me, tears in his perfectly blue eyes. “It isn’t what it looks like…please.” He ignored me completely, grabbed my bag, and opened the door. “You lied to me,” He hissed while keeping his hand on the door so it wouldn’t close, “You purposely left out seeing him today? What does that say for me? I travel the world and I’ve never once done anything with another girl, and I’ve sure as hell never lied to you.” His words stung, “Niall, I’m so sorry…please listen to me.” He made a gesture with his arm telling me to leave. I sniffled, pleading with him to listen. He ignored me, and kept the door open. I sucked up my pride and walked out, grabbing my bag from his hand. As soon as I walked out, he slammed the door. I put my hand against the cold wood and kept it there for a moment, leaning my forehead against it, softly sobbing.
I stumbled down the hall to the elevator, crying my eyes out. I couldn’t walk straight and I kept bouncing between the walls. I made it to the center of the hall where two elevators were and I pressed the button softly. It loudly dinged and the two metal doors slid open. I looked up at the ceiling, taking a deep breath, and then walked in. I pressed 1 and the doors quietly shut, and I began to descend. I wiped my eyes and my nose with my sleeve and walked out. I kept my head down low, not wanting to make eye contact with anyone. I walked out of the cool hotel and into the blistering heat. I grabbed my keys from my bag and hopped in the car.
I drove out of the hotel parking lot, and immediately had to stop in the Wal-Mart parking lot. I parked the car, set my head down on the steering wheel and broke down crying once again. My body was shaking, the sobs weren’t stopping, and I could barely breathe. My mouth was filled with sticky saliva, it was sticking to my tongue. I kept trying to swallow, but my nose was so stuffed that I kept choking. Mascara was running down my face, my face was puffy and red. I opened the glove box and grabbed my box of tissues. I couldn’t stop the tears from coming. After thirty minutes of crying, I drove back to my house. I walked inside, walked towards the stairs, and lost it again. I sat on the stair case bawling my eyes out. Thank god nobody is home, I thought. I crawled the rest of the way up the stairs and laid in my bed crying.
Two hours later, Niall texted me, ‘Can we talk?’ I replied saying yes and he called me. “I saw the other pictures; I should’ve let you talk. I’m so sorry; I should’ve let you explain to me. You kept trying to tell me it wasn’t true but I wouldn’t listen and I’m so sorry babe.” You sniffled and told him it was okay. “I’m sorry for lying to you…I didn’t want to, but I felt like I didn’t have any other choice. I know you hate him, but I can’t stop being friends with him. I shouldn’t have lied to you. I’m really sorry Niall.” “Baby, it’s okay, I’m sorry for what I said too. Let’s just forget about this and move on, okay?” I sniffled, “Of course. I love you.”
The next day you had 6 dozen flowers and 3 boxes of chocolates delivered to your house with a card that said, “Thank you for always forgiving me. All my love -N”
