NXT Takeover: Toronto Review

(I'll do that Q&A in the next chapter!)

This was such an amazing PPV.  I loved it from beginning to end.

Also, can WWE go to Toronto more often? That crowd was super into the whole show and I loved it.

Okay, now on to the review.

Bobby Roode vs. Tye Dillinger
Singles Match
Winner:
Bobby Roode
I LOVE TYE DILLINGER SO MUCH

okay anyway

Shortly before Takeover started, I told my brother about all the storylines leading to these matches (he watches the main roster, but not NXT). When I got to this one, I told him that basically, Bobby Roode has some form of amnesia where he completely forgets telling people things so that he doesn't look like the bad guy. xD

This match was great, and the crowd definitely added to the excitement, since they're both from Canada. Tye Dillinger saying sorry when the match had ended and walking away BROKE MY HEART :(

Here's a thought: put Tye Dillinger in a storyline and LET HIM WIN. He's not a perfect 10 if he doesn't win matches. (He's still a perfect 10 to me, though)

TM-61 vs. The Authors of Pain
Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Final
Winners:
The Authors of Pain
This match was shorter than I thought it would be, but it was still really good!

Before the match started, and Paul Ellering was getting into the cage, I totally wanted him to shove a ref in there instead. xD

Also, the Authors of Pain look really old, but they're only a few years older than me wow

When TM-61 came out, they didn't really get a reaction (which sucks because they're really good - I prefer them over the Authors of Pain), but by the end of this match, I think the crowd was behind them.  I'd love to see them go after the tag titles soon.

Which leads me to...

The Revival vs. #DIY
2 out of 3 Falls Match for the NXT Tag Team Championships
Winners:
#DIY
JOHNNY GARGANO AND TOMMASO CIAMPA ARE FINALLY TAG TEAM CHAMPS AND I'M SO HAPPY + PROUD OF THEM.

During the couple of minutes leading up to the final fall, I was freaking out because I wanted them to win so badly. My brother thought I was crazy, but #DIY have quickly become my favorite people signed to the WWE. I love them so much + I'm so so happy that they finally have titles.

I loved watching The Revival try to do DIY's finisher, but kicking each other instead. And then Gargano + Ciampa did SHATTER MACHINE AND IT WAS GREAT.

I said this in my last Takeover review, but The Revival are so good and so underrated. All the tag team title matches this year have featured them, and they've all been absolutely amazing. Yes, American Alpha and #DIY are great, but The Revival are just as great. After they get their rematch, I hope to see them on the main roster soon.

This was by far match of the night (and after watching Survivor Series, match of the weekend), and I can't wait to see all of their title defenses in the future.

The last time I was this happy was when Seth Rollins returned at Extreme Rules, so I'm so glad this match happened.

Also, if you haven't seen this video yet, please watch it.

Asuka vs. Mickie James
NXT Women's Championship Match
Winner:
Asuka
Besides how quickly Mickie tapped out, I thought this was a great match.

WWE is always bringing people back that I have no interest in seeing (*cough* Goldberg *cough*), and when they announced Mickie as Asuka's next opponent, I was skeptical. But Mickie definitely still has it, and I'd love to see her in the ring again.

Someone tweeted that Asuka may think she's crazy, but she's facing the woman who invented crazy.

Not only did I just really like this match, but I loved their interactions throughout it. Seeing them wrestle again down the line would be pretty cool.

Hopefully, at the next Takeover, Asuka faces someone actually on the NXT roster. (Ember Moon, anyone?)

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Samoa Joe
NXT Championship Match
Winner:
Samoa Joe
This match actually shocked me.

Since Nakamura only won his title at the last Takeover, I figured they'd give him a win and let him have a pretty good title run. But they didn't?

Just like their last match, this one was great. These two are both amazing, and I don't think either of them are capable of putting on a bad match.

Hopefully, when Nakamura gets his rematch, the match has some type of stipulation because that would be really cool. (Someone mentioned Hell in a Cell, and I wouldn't be against that)

When he won, I told my brother that he was the first 2-time NXT Champion. It wasn't until the middle of the night (like, 1 in the morning), that I also realized that Shinsuke Nakamura is no longer undefeated, and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Also, Nakamura's entrance was cool, but it was also kinda funny when you realized that none of the violin players were even playing his theme. xD I preferred the one violin player who actually played it.

I don't think it's any surprise that the tag title match was match of the night. I'm still not over it, and I smile every time I think about it.

I mentioned this in my Survivor Series predictions, but I loved the theme songs. If you're ever interested in what music I like, just listen to all the past Takeover theme songs + add a few more bands. (Y'all, I will start freaking out if they ever announce that All Time Low has a theme song omg)

This may be an unpopular opinion (idk), but I think this was better than Takeover: Brooklyn (this year's, not last year's).

(Also, I didn't know where to put this next part, so here you go)

This sort of has to do with the tag title match, but also sort of not. xD But when The Revival were supposed to face #DIY in the Dusty Rhodes Classic, but they couldn't? That was hilarious. I loved listening to Scott Dawson list off all these horrible injuries, but I lost it when he said that he tore his patella right in half. He didn't have a cast or anything at all on his leg to protect it, just crutches, and he's acting like he's about to lose his leg. xD

Anyway... My final thoughts? NXT Takeover: Toronto > Survivor Series.
