MotM- Daniel Sturridge and Trent Alexander Arnold)

(Could've had about 7, got two. Great debut, aggressive, maybe too aggressive, coulda been red carded!)

The programme has a Subuteo scene on it, they got the shadows wrong.

I was mad when I saw Danny Ings on the bench like WTF? Klopp PROMISED he'd start. What has he got to do?! But Sturridge and Origi are a proper pairing and coming on late on worked pretty well for him.

So hard to pick a MotM when everyone did so well, if I didn't see the team sheet and didn't have commentary or camera close ups I easily could've thought this was our first team.

I did have a good look at the team sheet though and was rather confident with every name on that list, Lucas captain after we were all so excited just to see him for a minute or two. Dad on the other hand questioned whether Klopp wanted to win this or not - I really don't know what he expects of them.

I enjoyed this one so much even if I spent a lot of time thinking I wish I could swap this score with the PL one, just like with City last season but then we'd be watching all night with a draw and pens.

I should complain more often, I moan at Sturridge's downfall in the pecking order, next match he's back flinging balls (and himself) into the back of the net!

Nine minutes of action, a slip (is it just me or is there something about our grass?), a Grujic shot, a deflection and Sturridge is there to send it to the back of the net, taking himself with it once again!

Two minutes later the keeper's having to do acrobatics to keep Sturridge out, that's just the first of things to come, some saves were definitely easier than others though like the absolute burst of a run from Origi.

I got like nostalgic for Moreno like I kinda miss him being a bit unpredictable and seeming to be a striker that's been weirdly put at the back rather than a LB, plus his hair makes him easy to spot.

Grujic needs to be more careful with where he throws his head!

We gave a few free kicks and corners today but I felt so, so confident with them and they were just dealt with, don't know if it's Klopp saying he has no respect for set piece moaners (shall we call them?) but everything about this team was saying to me, they've got this with all aspects of the game. Mignolet looked a new man, rolling out the ball, slipping it into play so coolly and

Spurs ran up some possession up to half time but they sort of didn't do anything with it, thing went a little slow but go on, run the clock if you like while we're 1-0.

Grujic did get a just past the post shot on though, I was begging physics to just to make it go in but no, that can't happen.

Suddenly saw Sturridge like a yard in front of everyone else with the ball, I had no doubt he'd score it but I was scared to get excited in case the flag then the commentators get excited that the flag's stayed down. It hits the back of the net AND it's a nutmeg!

Cue the Studge dancing!

He's now scored 10 times in his last eight League Cup appearances.

Absolute ovation for Danny Ings' return and Alexander-Arnold's debut end. Crowd were proper into it tonight. There was some right Klopp hugs going on with the substitutions too.

He's only been on a few minutes when he's got his chance on goal, I was desperate for it to go in just to hear how loud 53,000 people can roar, was blocked though.

What did you think of the penalty? Soft or what? The next one was a penalty, yeah, maybe but not the given one. I had a lot of confidence in Mignolet, he's good with penalties, went to stop it with conviction but just not the right way. 2-1, never mind, I'm certain we're gonna score more.

Back to Ings setting Studge up for him to clatter it against the bar! Should be on at least a hat trick  by now but a brace will do!

Can't say I got that nervous, Spurs just didn't look that much like they'd score even with getting all sorts of set pieces.

I've just found myself supporting Leeds, was losing with 10 men half way through extra. Ooh our old player Sergi Canos just got booked with a hiiigh foot. Yay penalties! They won the penalties, that was fun! No one likes Leeds (I liked their city) but they're North, Norwich are not so there we go, they're now an option.

We are onto the next round, pretty excited to see who we've got next but a Manc has to get knocked out first. OMG we've drawn Leeds at home, the one other team I took notice of.

Next match, we're due to see Benteke at his new home, Crystal Palace on Saturday, 29th October, 17:30!
