Cheating The System

Alice's POV:

I wake up at ten am in an unfamiliar room. It's small and darker than mine also much more messy. I glance to my right to see Cameron lying next to me, asleep.

Slowly, I creep out the bed and make my way down the stairs. I shove everything into my bag and head towards the door. I slide the bolt across and twist the lock before hearing Cameron. "Your not sneaking out on me are you?" He questions in an amused voice.

"I have to go to school. I'm late." I reply, trying not to look at his shirtless body.

"I think you'll need this." Cameron says, pulling out my phone. I reach to take it but he pulls his hand back. "Cameron give it me, I have to go. People will be wondering where I am."

"Like who? Your parents? Your need squad? Don't worry about it, I text your mum last night saying you were staying over at Abby's." Cameron explains.

"How did you know my password?" I ask him.

"It's your middle name, I'm surprised you haven't been hacked before." Cameron scoffs.

"Well how'd you know my middle name?" I ask him.

"It was on your bus pass." Cameron replies, I check my bag to make sure he put it back, he did.

"Just give me my phone Cameron. I have to get to school." I repeat, more frustrated.

"Well what would the fun in that be?" Cameron questions with a smirk.

"You know what? Keep it! My parents will buy me another." I snap before swinging the door open and walking to my car.

I drive off and head straight to school. I make it there only a hour and a half late but on the bright side it's break so I change into some more sophisticated clothes that I stored in my locker.

"Where have you been?" Anna asks.

"It's a long story but I'm here now. Brian please change my attendance." I beg him.

"You want to cheat the system?" He questions.

"I know it's a lot to ask but me being late today wasn't my fault." I excuse.

"Where were you?" Cody asks.

"I can't tell you." If word gets out Cameron and all his friends will get in trouble, what they did last night was illegal.

"I'll change it but only this one time." Brian says.

"Thank you." The bell sounds loudly through the halls and everyone scurries off to class.

First I have English which is pretty normal, I can't help but wonder what Cameron's doing right now. Second I have art class.

"Alice Marie Stewart report to the principles office." Is said through the speakers placed around school for the announcements. At first I freeze in my seat. What if Brian and I got caught earlier?

"Off you go." Says the teacher. "Don't look so worried, knowing you it's probably for an award."

I stand up and walk to the door feeling everyone's eyes on me. On my way there I can't help but think and panic. When I arrive I knock before walking in. I see his chair is facing away from me and to the window.

"You wanted to see me sir?" I question. The chair spins around and I see Cameron. "What are you doing? Where's the head?"

"I told him his car was being towed." Cameron replies.

"So that was you on the microphone?" I ask him.

"Sure was, I did a pretty good impression." Cameron smirks.

"What do you want?!" I ask angrily.

"To give you this back." Cameron answers, setting my phone down on the table. "Come to my place tonight, we'll do the project."

"Fine." I pick my phone up and put it in my bag before walking to the door.
