NandiMellow and I had our day planned out to the tee. With him not doing anything today, we planned to spend as much ime together in the sun as we possibly could and I was ready for it. Not only because I enjoyed hanging out with my brother, but because he and I had a lot to talk about.
I was walking down the stairs with a smile on my face, knowing that Mellow would be down any minute. I had on my designer bikini which was 1950s inspired, as well as a denim shirt over it and a pair of sneakers. My beach bag was ready and I'd be 100% ready to hit the water if Mellow would just show up.
I'd just put my Dior sunglasses on my head to keep my hair out of my face when I heard the most annoying voice in the universe, say my name.
"For God's sake, Jerome, what do you want?" I turned around and scowled at him as I crossed my arms against my chest so he wouldn't get the honour of having a look at my pair of royal breasts in my bikini top.
"Is this how you walk around the palace, Princess? You let your servants see you half naked?" He raised his eyebrows at me.
"You also have issues of possession." I tapped my chin with my finger.
"Go upstairs and put some clothes on, Nandi."
"You're not my father."
"I am soon to be your husband and I find it degrading to both you and I-- to who we are-- that you're parading around the palace in nothing but your panties and a shirt."
"I don't swim in panties, mister! That's fact number one. Nobody in their right mind swims in a panty. This is a very expensive bathing suit that I got exclusively from--"
"Spare me the nonsense, Nandi." Jerome rolled his eyes and tossed his piece of leopard skin (that he always wore on his shoulders) at me to cover myself up with.
I let it hit the floor as I stepped away from it and the look of horror on Jerome's face was enough to light up my insides with pride.
"If you think I'm going to put on that stinking skin of a poor leopard, you're so mistaken, brother." I said.
Jerome was about to say something when we heard Mellow come down the stairs while singing Rihanna's 'Sledgehammer'. In a different situation, I'd be laughing at him, but I was still pissed off at Jerome.
Sensing the tension, Mellow asked me in Zulu what was going on and I told him that I had to address this monkey before we went to our little beach. He looked Jerome up and down then told me not to let the monkey get to me.
Jerome could sense that we were talking about him. He stood stiffly in his place with his jaw clenched and heat radiating out of his ears at the fact that we'd switched languages just like that.
"I'll see you in a minute, Mellow. Wait for me outside." I told him with a smile.
"Okay," Mellow looked Jerome up and down before forcing a smile on his face. When he saw the leopard skin on the floor, he exaggerated things by squirming as he tiptoed over it.
I giggled.
Mellow knew that Jerome hated that he was openly gay. Mellow was never over-the-top-gay but he liked to exaggerate things around Jerome to get a reaction out of him.
Even when he stepped outside, Mellow made sure we knew he wasn't too far away. He sang the Sledgehammer chorus aloud, probably so Jerome would get that Mellow was singing about him, and we heard some giggles coming from our helpers as the walked past the palace.
"I'd like to join my brother now. Are you just about done talking to me about my clothing?" I asked Jerome.
"I will see you later," Jerome said flatly, "for lunch. Out in the garden. I expect to see you there at one o' clock sharp in something appropriate."
