When James and Lily had been killed, and you had thought Peter was dead also along with Sirius being locked up in Azkaban, you lost contact with all of your friends including Remus. Prior to everything breaking and being destroyed you had been in a relationship with the werewolf, but split up over the different views on Sirius' innocent.
Remus couldn't bear being with a woman whom sided with their friends murderer, whilst you couldn't be with a man whom thought that his best friend could do something so barbaric.
It had been over twelve years since it all happened though. Sirius had escaped and from the letter you had received from your ex he was innocent. As soon as Remus had allowed you knowledge of his location you went straight there to see your friend
As soon as you entered the building, you recognised the unwelcome place, from the one time that you had visited. Once you'd closed the front door the familiar, but older, person appeared in the far doorway.
Your eyes lit up, as you started to run at the brunette man tackling him with a hug. He grunted as you hit into him, wrapping your arms around him tightly.
"Miss me?" Sirius chuckled, wrapping his arms around you.
"Of course I did Pads you fool," you said pulling out of the hug, and shoving his shoulder. "I lost you all, I am glad to just have one of you back. Are you okay?"
He smiled down to you, forcing you back into a bone crushing hug, wrapping his arms firmly around you, allowing you to rest your head against his chest.
"I'm fine Y/N/N. Why are you worrying about me? From what I heard you broke poor Moony's heart. You didn't exactly lose him," he said softly, trying not to sound too accusatory.
"He said you killed them. I couldn't be with him. If I was it felt like I was betraying you and it made it feel more real. It made me doubt your innocence, and I couldn't live like that. He was willing to watch his only friend left go to Azkaban for a crime he obviously didn't commit," you said firmly, even though your words were muffled into his chest.
Sirius rubbed your back, as you latched onto him.
"I was wrong," a voice you recognised and missed called from behind Sirius.
You moved your head away from his chest, standing on your tiptoes to look over his shoulder. Behind him stood Remus, with a sad and guilty expression.
You hadn't seen him in twelve years. He hadn't changed a lot. He was older obviously, but the main difference was his facial hair. The whole time you knew him, he was always clean shaven, things change, sometimes not for the best.
In an attempt to hide your laughter, you kept a firm stoic impression.
Sirius stepped out of the way, moving so he was now stood behind you, resting a hand on your shoulder as you looked towards the werewolf.
"I'm sorry Y/N. I apologised to Padfoot already for not believing him. It was stupid of me not to trust him. And I'm sorry I couldn't push that aside ruining our relationship," he explained.
"He hasn't stopped speaking about you," Sirius stated.
"Could you give us a moment?" Remus asked his friend.
Reluctantly Sirius walked away.
"I'm going to sound so stupid," Remus groaned. "It's been twelve years, and I am still in love with you. It hurt me so much to be the reason you left, but I knew why. I knew why you had to. I couldn't bear to be with someone else. It's stupid I know. I know you have probably moved on. I just need to know if you can forgive me. And if by any chance we could try again, see if we can work the way we did? Or at least be friends. But it's up to you."
You didn't say anything, honestly struggling to consider him as the person you were in love with, rather than a strange man who made bad life choices.
"Y/N? I shouldn't have asked sorry," he sighed, looking defeated.
"I'm sorry, I'm just ... I can't take you seriously while you've got that stupid moustache," you burst into laughter.
Instantly he relaxed, rolling his eyes at you.
"I knew it was a bad idea for you to talk to Sirius again. Even five minutes with the man and you already act like him," he frowned.
You stepped forward, standing on your tiptoes once more, so you could rest your hand onto his cheek.
"I'm sorry Moony. You just look very different, but I think this might be able to give you an answer," you smiled leaning forward to press a kiss to his lip.
His moustache felt weird and different, seen as you had only ever kissed him before and he had never had facial hair when you were together before.
When you pulled away, you couldn't help but run your thumb over the hair on his upper lip.
"Is it really that bad?" He questioned.
"I think I can get used to it," you shrugged. "What is it about facial hair though? Do men just hit a certain age and decide a moustache is a good idea? Both you and Sirius were against it when we left school."
"It proves manliness," Sirius voice called. "That's why mines better than his."
