Killian's POV
I laid with Emma in my arms, just thinking about what she had told me. I knew we were having problems having a baby, but I never thought that she wouldn't be able to have one at all. It broke my heart, seeing her as I did earlier tonight. But this wouldn't change anything. I was still going to love her the same way as I did before. I'm still going to live my life as before. Nothing was going to change that.
I tightened my grip around her, and buried my head in her neck. She hummed in her sleep, and I smiled. She was a goddess, and completely mine. And in three months, it was going to be official. We already had most of the things planned out for our wedding. All the guests were accounted for and the cake and flowers were already scheduled to arrive. I was excited just thinking about it. Once upon a time, I dreamed about marrying Milah and that we'd live happily ever after, but I'm glad that it didn't work out. If it had, I probably wouldn't be living with the real love of my life, and I wasn't going to let anything change that.
Emma's POV
The next day, I was getting a new partner. It had been some time since Milah moved to another position, but I still wasn't happy to get another partner. That is until I met the woman. Her name was Elsa. She seemed like a guarded and protected woman. It was like looking into a mirror. Her blonde hair was braided to one side and she had a blue shirt on with blue jeans. We really had a connection, and I knew it was going to turn into an amazing friendship.
When I got back to the apartment, Killian wasn't there. I assumed that he was at either the bar or our new house. I poured a glass of rum and sat down on the couch. I took small sips of it, wanting to take my mind off of the stressful day I had. I didn't know how long I sat there, just staring at the amber liquid in my glass, but eventually, I swallowed it in one swig and went into mine and Killian's bedroom and got ready for bed. It was close to 9:00, and I wondered where Killian was. I called him, but he didn't answer. I shrugged it off and laid down and went to sleep.
I awoke to arms holding me, but there was an overwhelming smell of women's perfume. I turned over, and Killian was laying right beside me. A small smile on his face as he drifted off to sleep.
"Where were you?" I asked sleepily.
He mumbled as he spoke, "nowhere."
"You smell like women's perfume. What the hell have you been doing?" He opened his eyes and sat up. He rubbed his face and I propped myself up on my elbow. My stomach suddenly dropped. "Are you cheating on me?"
"I didn't want you to find out this way."
I got out of bed. "Why? Why are you cheating on me?" I demanded.
He got up too and looked at me. Cold, icy blue eyes met my vibrant green. "Milah can give me what I want. She can give me kids. You can't."
I shot straight up in bed, breathing heavily. The bed was dipped beside me. I looked over my shoulder and Killian was looking at me with worry evident on his face. He grabbed my arm but I yanked it away from him.
"What's wrong?" He asked. "Talk to me, love."
I turned around suddenly and put my head to his chest and neck, and inhaled. There wasn't any trace of perfume on his skin. I reached up and his hair was dry. I pulled away and cried, "I'm going crazy."
"No you're not. What did you dream about?"
"If I ask you something, can you please tell me the truth without getting mad at me?"
"Of course."
I took a deep breath to try to calm myself, but I still wasn't able to ask him the question. He cocked his head in confusion, and I had to look down and play with my fingers. "A-are you seeing Milah too?"
"Are you suggesting that I'm cheating on you?"
I clenched my eyes shut tight, "yeah."
"No. I'm not." He put his fingers under my chin, which forced me to look up at him. "I love you too much." He pulled me into his arms. "Is that what you dreamt about?"
I nodded, "I'm sorry."
"I understand, darling. I do. I didn't want to tell you, but the other night, I had a dream that you were cheating on me with August."
I laughed, "your coworker?"
"Yeah." He pulled back with a laugh. "But I knew that it was absurd."
"And you seeing Milah is absurd too," I said, mocking his accent and failing miserably.
He laughed and laid down on his pillows. "I'm sorry I wasn't here when you went to sleep. There was a fight at the bar and I had to help break it up."
"Are you hurt?"
"I got a little bit of a black eye, but I'm fine."
I leaned up and pressed a gentle kiss to his eye, but as soon as my lips touched his face, he winced and pulled away. Guilt immediately surfaced and I pulled away. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you!"
"Emma, Emma, Emma, it's okay. I'm fine." But I still wasn't convinced. I laid down on my side of the bed, as far away from him as I could get. "Come here."
"I'm fine here."
"But I'm not."
"I've already hurt you. I don't want to hurt you again."
"Please, love. I'm okay. It didn't hurt that bad."
"That's not what I'm talking about," I said and sat up. "I know you want kids."
"Aye, I do, but we can always adopt. We can make a child very happy by giving them a loving family. Something that we never had. I'm not mad that we can't have children."
"You are getting confused. I can't have kids. There is something wrong with me. You are just as perfect as you look."
"I'm anything but perfect."
"No, you are! With your perfect hair and perfect eyes. You are so sweet and kind and I love you for it."
"Don't forget that I have the most perfect girlfriend in the entire world. That is also what makes me perfect." I wanted to argue some more, but I didn't have any energy too. He pulled me against his chest and I cried. He rubbed soothing circles on my back as I sobbed. "I have a perfect life, and no matter what happens, it will always be perfect, just as long as you are in it too."
