Race vs. Ethnicity

Okay y'all I've been reading some books and um how do I address this. . . . . .

Okay so I was reading this story and the girl was black and there was a part where she said I think she brushed her long hair, and I'm like okay then she said I inherited my hair from my grandmother and mother. I'm mixed with native american.

Ain't nothing wrong with being mixed,I'm mixed myself, but for me when you add it after a topic such as "long hair" it's like what? You think full black girls cant have long hair?

You don't have to be mixed to have long hair. I have a full black friend and her hair is to her hips, long afro hair. Then I have a friend who is black/white and she lowkey bald.

Now I go into the comments cause there were hella of them and some girls had the same thoughts as me, and some we're stating what they were mixed with as in race.

So race is like, Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, Latino, Native American . . .

Tell me why most of these girls here were like "I'm not black, I'm part native american, half dominican, and part jamaican."

B*tch you're black.

I don't know why our sistas deny their blackness.

1. Domincans have black/hispanic decent, but I think theyre are considered black mainly and they share the same island as Haitians so I consider them black

2. Jamaicans are black

3. You're black and Native

Race is kinda hard to explain I mainly think of it as like what you look like and the continents.

Im not saying like if a white girl has typical black features shes black but she probably has a black ancestor.

Ethnicity is like a group in a race like example:
Asian = Korean, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Chinese, Japanese, Saudi Arabian, Indian etc

You get it right?

Its hard for me to explain but point is honey your ethnicity doesnt change your race.

Also its so funny when someone thinks an Etnicity is a race it goes like

"So what race are you?"

"I'm italian."

"Oh, so you're white?"

"No I'm italian!"

"But that's an ethnicity not a race-"

"My race is italian I'm not explaining this!"

Has me rolling like okay believe what you want.

But tbh Italians, like typical italians, look like PoC but they are white.

Usually when people ask me what I am I say Black but I have a lot of ethnicities in different races and I dont feel like explaining alot of sh*t so I just say black or multiracial but mainly black.

It just irks me when people try everything in their power to deny their blackness or try to ignore it
