"Wake up Wendy," Prince's voice echoed over the mic. I'm starting to regret this even wanting to perform onstage with Prince. I should've said jam. But even if Prince would've still made me come, he said, "If we're performing together it has to be good." I smiled at the thought though. Then frown because I remembered that he took my coffee away. Bastard.
This rehearsal has been going on forever, at least that's what it feels like. All I know is it was sunlight when we came in here. You can tell Prince takes his music very seriously. He can detect the slightest mistake in every song. If your off by one note he can tell. I can do it with singing but with an instrument. Unreal. I have never seen anything like it. This is more of a learning experience than anything. I would probably enjoy this more we haven't been through his hour and a half set four times. Perfectionist doesn't even begin to describe it.
"No, I say the first intercourse." he instructed Wendy and Lisa. They groaned a little bit under their breath. It didn't sound off to me, but he had this pained look on his face as he was playing.
"Cut it." he said and everything stopped on a dime. I tried to blink myself awake, I was sitting on top of a speaker. "Take a break y'all are tired, meet back here in two hours." he announced and the band cheered. As they filed out I noticed Prince stayed, which made me cock my head to the side. Lisa asked did I want to go with them to get donuts, I turned it down and sat back watching Prince.
Susannah came out of nowhere and gave Prince a kiss. I scrunched my face up and rolled my eyes at the sight. They were talking about something, I couldn't hear them but all of a sudden she looked angry, Prince looked nonchalant as hell. She was waving her arms all wild and he was just playing a few keys, which i'm from sound of it, it was the Beautiful Ones. He really loves that damn song, and ever since he kissed me in that theater it became mine too. Susannah looked even more pissed at the fact that he was ignoring him. He casted a quick irritated glance at me. It was kind of funny, I put my hand over my mouth trying to not let a sound out but a giggle slipped out. They looked over at me, all I could do was wave awkwardly as I horribly fought off my laughter. She yelled at him a little more before she stomped off angrily. I waited until I heard the stage door slam before I walked over and sat next Prince at the piano. He was looking down, which made my poke my bottom lip out in sadness. My sweet baby boy.
"Everything all right?" I placed my hand on his thigh and a slight smile came to his face.
"Yeah...."
"Well what happened?" I asked.
"She wanted me to take her somewhere to eat, I said no I'm working on my music, she said we never spend anytime together, I said yes we do all the time, she said is it because Jasmyn is here. I didn't say anything. Then assumption after assumption after assumption..." his voice trailed off as he swept his hands over the piano keys. My heart was breaking into a million pieces at the sight.
"Well while we're here I have to show you something ok." I was trying to take his mind off of whatever happened between him and her. He looked sad, as cute as he is when he's sad. I miss his smile. His smile is my world. I cracked my knuckles and scooted him over with my hip.
"What are you doing." he chuckled, with a brow raised at me.
"Playing...Ok, I think I'm pretty good at this so far. I've been working on this since I was little." I fluttered my fingers before putting them over the keys. I played Mozart Sonata in D Major K311. I was concentrating hard, making sure I didn't mess up. It was pretty difficult to play. I had learned it by ear so I don't know if everything was correct but when I finished and looked up at Prince, and he looked astonished. Which was a small boost of confidence, because Prince can play the piano amazingly.
