I stared at the clock for a moment and realised it was 8:45pm. I was meant to be home by now but instead I wanted to continue some work I had to finish. When I had finished it was 9:30pm, I quickly grabbed the folders and placed them in a storage box just under my desk. I logged my computer off before making my way out of the building. I sat down on the pavement as I waiting for my taxi to come. I knew I should've not let Kate and Mike borrow my car because now I don't have transport but I did feel sorry for them considering they've never been on holidy. I sighed as I watched the time turn from 9:34pm to 10:03pm. The taxi didn't come. Slowly getting up, I felt the cold wind hit my skin, I started getting goosebumps as I took my high heels off. My bare foot touched the cold, beaten floor. I grabbed my bag and slowly started walking gazing up at the sky. The stars were twinkling and the moon was on full show. I smiled to myself as I got a flashback of that coffee and the cute message Jacob gave me this morning. 'Hey, Katelynn!' A voice shouted. I turned around and noticed Jacob in his car. 'Hi!' I shouted back. 'Do you want a lift home?' 'No!' I smiled, 'It's alright, I can walk.' 'It's really dark now.' He paused, 'Come-on. I don't want anyone taking advantage of you.' I bit my fingernails before slowly nodding my head, 'Okay, if you insist.' He smiled at me before parking his car just beside me. I quickly hopped in and placed my high heels back on. 'Why did you just leave work now?' He asked as he started the car again. 'I had to finish some work off.' I paused, 'What were you doing here anyway? I thought you left an hour ago.' 'I.. I...' He hesitated, 'I waited for you.' 'What?' I bit my lip, 'But why?' 'I wanted to make sure you got home safely.' I smiled at him and he smiled back, 'Thank you.' 'I missed this so much.' He muttered, 'You know like what we used to be. What did happen to us, Katelynn? After that day you confessed you li-' 'I don't want to talk about that.' I snapped. Silence filled the small space, 'Sorry.' He mumbled. 'No. It's fine.' I continued, 'Besides that was ages ago. I don't have any feelings for you anymore.' 'You don't?' He asked surprisingly. 'No, why?'
