Chapter 44- Betrayal
Deeks' POV
We rolled up next to Sam and Callen's car which was hidden behind the same line of trees Kensi and I had used. We immediately got out to gear up. Bulletproof vests, assult rifles, the whole nine yards. Pulling up to the complex, everything became a big blur. Kensi and I were in charge of getting the family while Sam and Callen kept the guards busy. It seemed easy enough. It was four against three.
Suddenly we had gotten past the initial round of semi automatic ememy rounds, and the house was ours. I could still the continued gunshots between the guards and our teammates. I covered my partner as she peeked around the corner. She held up one finger meaning just one guard present by the room holding the Leon family. This was going to be easy.
The guard was more focused on the fire fight outside to notice two federal agents creeping up on him. He looked no more than 22, and was clearly terrified, wondering what he got himself into. Kensi wrapped her arm around his neck, holding him until he fell limp to the floor, unconsious. The less bodies, the better.
I slowly opened the door. It was surprisingly unlocked. We stepped in, spotting a group of people huddled together.
"Federal agents, we're here to help you. Are you Alejandro's family?" Kensi said in Spanish.
The door slammed behind us, and the sound of a gun cocking echoed through the room. I felt the cool metal of a gun slam into the back of my head, causing me to fall to the floor. Out of the haze, I saw the group of people stand up, all holding AKs. I recognised one of them as Rico, the suspected kidnapper. Kensi was the next to tumble to the ground next to me. A familiar spiky haired Hispanic man stepped over us, kicking our rifles across the room.
"Alejandro... why?" Kensi whispered, rage in her voice and betrayal clouding her eyes.
"You left me in Nicaragua, Katelyn." He spat, using her alias. "You promised you would bring me to the States, you said your people would get me and my family out. You betrayed me, and this is my revenge. But this isn't just a personal vendetta. So I told my new boss about the elite team of federal agents that destroyed a cartel in a matter of minutes. He was impressed, but the problem is you are on the other side and would come to work for a couple of bag guys. Long story short, he decided that the next best thing would be to just get rid of this team altogether than risk them breaking apart his empire."
"I tried to go back for you, I really did. And believe me I hated myself for leaving you there, but there was nothing I could do." Kensi tried to explain.
"Nothing you could do. That is such a fucking lie. I can think of at least a dozen different ways you could have helped me out of that hell hole."
He came down on one knee, putting his face close to Kensi's. I could already see the wheels in her devious head turning.
"You know, King's remaining men blew up my house... With my family in it. That is my cause. If you would have kept your promise, they would be alive."
"Roll." Kensi commanded, and I flew to the side taking out one of the "family members" with me. I grabbed ahold of her gun, knocking her in the forehead with the butt of it. The other two aimed, but a rain of bullets came from the now open door, creating crimson blobs on their dirty clothes. I looked over at Kensi who had Alejandro in a choke hold. Sam and Callen filed in, staring at the unconscious and dead people scattered around the room.
"He tricked us. This was a plan to take us all out." I stated, supporting my hands on my knees so I could catch my breath.
"I knew something didn't seem right with this case. I just didn't want to believe Alejandro had switched sides." Kensi murmered.

Kensi's POV
When forensics finally made it out, we had our no conscious prisoners in flexicuffs, waiting to be taken away.
I couldn't stop staring at Alejandro. Sometimes he caught me, but I didn't care anymore. I just couldn't believe he would do something like that. It sickened me how much trust I had placed in him, only to be stabbed in the back, or rather bonked on the back of the head.
"Hey, here's some ice for that bump." Deeks smiled, handing me a pack from the EMTs. I invited him to sit with me on the steps, and held the ice to my head.
"What's on your mind, Fern?"
"Nothing. Just looking at Alejandro pisses me off."
"Then stop looking at him."
"I can't, I'm still trying to figure out everything about him that pisses me off."
Deeks laughed and took my chin between his finger and thumb. "Look at me."
My eyes met his, and I completely forgot about Alejandro. "I thought he was my friend." I frowned, sounding like a five year old.
"Don't let him get to ya. He doesn't deserve your friendship. Friends don't almost shoot other friends in the head."
It was my turn to laugh this time.
"How do you always make me feel better?" I beamed at him.
"Oh that would be my charming personality and hilarious ego." He smirked.
"Yeah, okay." I chuckled.
"Can I stay with you tonight? My carpet is still getting cleaned."
"Yeah. You know we never did watch Friends."
"Oh I think what we did was 10x better than Friends." He raised his eyebrows seductively. I punched his arm softly. Deeks' face suddenly went almost serious, and he caught my gaze. "You know I love you, right?"
I stared at him, stunned at his sudden mood change and comment. I was flustered, and giving him my answer was almost difficult.
"I know, I, uh, love you, too."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"No don't apologize for being the perfect boyfriend."
'Where did that come from?' I thought, the loving remarks just flowing from my mouth now. He blinked a few times, processing my uncharacteristic behavior.
"I'm gonna, um, go get this gear off." I said quickly, tugging on the Velcro of my bulletproof vest. "Want to give me your's and I'll put it away too?"
"Yeah, sure. Here." He tore off the vest and handed it to me. "Thanks."
"Welcome." I said quietly as I fled from the awkwardness of the moment.

Even with our awkward conversation earlier, Deeks still came home with me. We actually did watch Friends, spending the night making comments about irony and love. I snuggled into Deeks, resting my head on his chest. He wrapped his arms around me, creating a warm and safe place. Every once in awhile he would plant a kiss on the top of my head or twirl my hair around his finger. I never wanted to leave his arms.

Ehh I didn't really like this chapter, I had a good idea in my head, but putting it down in words ended up being really hard. Sorry it's a little short too.
