"you sure maurice starr lives here?" i asked chris as the three of us stood across the street looking at the brick apartment building.
"yeah, you better not be yanking my chain, or i swear man" donnie threatened. i rested my hand on his chest, trying to ease his tension.

"yeah i'm sure, would i lie to you? we're pals man" chris said slighty offended that we would accuse him of such a thing.
"i told mary about you and she gave me this address saying to meet her at that house at 3 past 1."

"then let's go" donnie carefully laced our hands as we walked across the space packed street to his destiny.
walking up the outside steps, we stopped at the front door noticing there were three buzzers. the two of us looked at chris as he buzzed the second floor, waiting for someone to answer.

"hello?" a mans voice broke through.
"uhm. i-its chris, marie alford told me to come here, i'm-" before his sentence was finished, the door buzzed, signaling it was now open.

they must really be desperate for new talent. i thought.
cautiously i walked up the steep flights of stairs behind the two boys, still holding onto donnies' hand so i didn't end up breaking a heel and falling to my death.

once we reached the 2nd floor, the apartment door was already open so we found ourselves walking in as if we've been here thousands of times. going deeper into the house the sight definitely catching all of us off guard.

maurice starr stood smack dab in his livingroom, a long brown broom in hand. taking notice of us he offered a million dollar smile and limped our way, his broom working as a crutch.

"you donnie?" he asked the boy i clung onto. i unraveled my fingers from his and stepped a side, giving him the space he needed.

"hey, i wish i could stay but i gotta go, tell donnie i wish him the best of luck." chris whispered in my ear. he place a soft kiss of my cheek and left out the front door. missing history that was about to be made in this very apartment.

donnie didn't look nervous at all, if anything his cocky charisma shined brighter then usual. "yeah" he crossed his arms over his chest and grinned.

"well i heard you was good" maurice complimented. i wanted to jump in and say he was better then good he was
extraordinary but the voice in my head told me i better not.

"ok?" donnie replied i gave him a questioning look. wasn't he suppose to kissing maurices ass right now not sassing him.

"i'm gonna make you a star." maurice smiled, the bass of certainty in his voice sent a chill down my spine. i had to cover my mouth with my red scarf in order for my own wide smile to disappear.

donnie stood there for a minute taking in the words he just heard. he looked down at the broom stick that was supporting maurices weight and looked away as a small laugh escaped his mouth, licking his lips he looked back at maurice. "we'll see about that."

maurice starr laughed, shifting his weight on the other foot.
"i like you kid. how old are you?"
"fifteen"
"a little young aren't you."
" some people say i'm mature for my age" donnie shrugged.

"why don't we take a seat in the living room and continue this talk." maurice suggested. we all complied and found ourselves seated on his brown leather couch.

"this your girlfriend?" maurice wondered.
donnie and i locked eyes, almost bursting into a fit of laughter.
"bestfriend" i answered for him

maurice nodded his head understandingly. "you sing and dance too?"

i nodded proudly, leaning into d's shoulder. "yeah but i ain't no donnie wahlberg, now let me tell you, this kid here is amazing. ain't that right donnie" i laughed, pinching his cheek.

maurice let out a throaty laugh at our childish antics, he watched our every move intently, finding entertainment in our brother -sister like bond.
"you got spunk girl, what's your name?"

"skyler, skyler amelia andrews."

"i originally wanted an all boyband but knowing you can do it all just makes me question my plan. how would you like to be apart of the upcoming band?" maurice asked me, leaning back in his rocking chair; awaiting my answer.

i thought about it for a minute did i really want to do this? me mark and donnie always talked about being somebody but now that the opportunity was in my face it felt, weird.

"you know i would love to but i'd rather not. i'm sorry sir"

he gave me a nod, indicating my decision was okay. "but if you ever find yourself needing a manger for anything, you know where to come."

"alright donnie" he continued. "show me what you got"
within the 4 hours that seemed to fly by, donnie showed maurice different riffs he could do, he showed him dance moves and even rapped a few songs. and i sat there on the brown leather couch watching my bestfriends dream slowly come true. it was an understatement to say maurice was impressed by donnies performance's.

the three of us walked towards the front door, still in the mist of having a conversation about donnies audition.
"i said it once and i'll say it again, you got it. you're gonna be big" maurice praised.

i shook my head dreading the bus ride home which was gonna consist on donnie gloating about how great he is. maurice was just boosting the kids ego and sadly i was gonna have to be the one to pop it.

"don't forget, try and find a few more guys that are willing to join." maurice reminded us as we walked down the stairs.

"what a pleasure it was to meet you miss, skyler amelia andrews" he called down, slighty leaning over the top of the staircase.

"likewise mr.starr"

as me and donnie walked out the apartment building the 3 o'clock sky was gone and replaced with 7o'clock clouds. the both of us spoke nothing about what just happened a few hours ago in fear that it was all just a dream and soon we'll wake up back in our little reality. but i knew we were both thinking about it.
