Nothingness was kind of peaceful. The darkness was quiet. Except for the rushing sound of cars passing by every now an again. The blinding light bursting across his vision when they go by.

Must have been why he tripped. Or maybe it was because he had been walking since 9 in the morning and it was very dark at night now.

He tripped and rolled down into the ditch. It was damp and cold. Mud slick across his hands as he pushed himself over to lay on his back.

Gazing up at the sky he thought of staying here for the rest of the night. He thought of just closing his eyes and laying there. In the nothingness. In the dark.

The sky was full of stars. He remembered that his mother used to call stars angels.

Turning physically from that memory he turned over and picked himself up slowly and walked back up to the side of the highway. He kept walking. His legs were sore but he didn't care. There was nothing to care about any more.

Not in the void.

He saw that he was passing a rest stop. Walking into the restroom he stumbled towards the sink and looked up seeing his reflection. Blood and dirt and a empty look in his eyes.

He slowly washed his hands and his face. He drank some of the water from the sink and even used the restroom. He moved out of the reststop and saw that it was 2 in the morning from the clock on the wall.

Time didn't really matter anymore. He just kept walking. He realized where he was headed. Ashville. Where his mother was buried.

He was only 6 miles away from it now. He did the math in his head. 50 miles. He had walked 50 miles.

It didn't matter though. Nothing did. Nothing mattered.

It was getting lighter when he finally collapsed beside his mothers grave stone.

"...... I'm sorry......" Stiles whispered as his eyes closed and he sank into the darkness.
