Chapter 13- A Sudden Change

Mikasa's POV:

"A date?" I asked. I couldn't believe that he would ask me out on a date after he asked me to be his girlfriend. This was way too sudden.

"Yeah!" he replied. "I wanted to go to the mall to check out the new anime shop that opened."

"New anime shop?"

"I'm free over the weekend and wanted to see if you were free."

"You are so brave Eren. First asking me out and now a date? All on the same day?"

"I didn't know about the new shop. Besides, I felt like I wanted to spend time with you." That just made me blush but I was glad Eren couldn't see it.

"I'm really flattered Eren, but I can't-"

"There is Attack On Giant merch." After he said that, I quickly changed my mind.

"Yes! I'll definitely go! What time is the date?"

"It'll be on Saturday at 12pm. We'll meet at the entrance of the mall. Think you can make it?"

"Of course I can!"

-Morning-

I can't believe I just said yes to a date. What am I thinking? I really wondered.

It was the beginning of History Class and I was still thinking about last night. I thought about it too much that I didn't pay attention to what the teacher was asking me.

"So Mikasa, what was the new system of government called?"

"A date..." I said out loud. The class just laughed their hearts out and I finally snapped out of it. "Wait, what did I say?"

"Never mind," replied the teacher. "You better pay attention next time."

I was embarrassed for the rest of the day. I just said that without even realizing it. I'm such an airhead.

-Lunchtime-

Eren's POV:

"I can't believe that you said that in class," I laughed. "I didn't think you were this eager about the date." We were eating our lunch under the tree because Mikasa and I wanted to talk to each other in private.

"Shut up!" I just kept laughing until my face was red. Oh, that reminds me.

"So Mikasa, do you have an answer yet?"

"Hmm?"

"The answer to my question yesterday."

"Huh? Yeah, I do." I started to get nervous. Maybe I shouldn't have asked her out. Regardless, I had to face it.

"Eren, I'm truly happy that you asked me out for real yesterday. I know now how you feel and it just confirmed my feelings..." she started. "I like you too Eren, and I don't know if this would be a mistake or not, but yes. I will date you. I will be your real girlfriend."

I started to tear up and cry. I hugged her and said, "Thanks." I was really happy. I have no clue what the future holds but I'm glad Mikasa said yes.

"I'm so glad that we are a couple for real," I said joyfully.

"You didn't know how much my feelings have been bottled up."

"There was no reason to keep them secret. You could have told me because I felt the same."

"I didn't know that..." Her voice changed a little. "I can't hold back..."

"What?"

"Eren, is it okay to kiss you now?" she asked. She looked at me with gleam.

"Yes. But what-" she cut me off. She put her arms around my neck and started pulling me closer to her.

"I just want to kiss you now. Is that alright?" I sighed and replied, "Sure."

I tilted my head as I leaned in forward to kiss her. Our lips gently touched and I felt sparks, good ones at that. It felt like we were melting in each other's arms, savoring and enjoying the sensational moment.

We gasped for air and lied down on the grass. I went along with this but I noticed the sudden change in Mikasa. But I decided not to ask her about it.

-After School-

"Sorry for earlier," Mikasa said.

"You don't have to apologize," I responded. I was still confused about the change in Mikasa. But it looks she was back to normal. "Anyway, I have to rush home and finish my homework. I don't want to miss the Attack On Giant episode tonight."

"I might as well rush too. I don't want to miss tonight's episode either," she agreed.

"See you tomorrow Mikasa!" I said.

"See you!" she replied as she went off in the direction to her house. I sighed and walked back home.

I shut the door behind me and took off my shoes. I was still wondering what happened during lunch. Mikasa wasn't her usual self and then she returned to normal afterwards.

My phone rang and I took it out of my pocket. It was an unknown number but I decided to pick it up anyway.

"Hello? I think you have the wrong-"

"Eren!" I recognize that voice. It couldn't be...

"Wait, aren't you Mikasa's mom?"

"You remembered!"

"How did you get my phone number?" I asked. I'm pretty sure I didn't give it to her while I was in the hospital.

"I just took a little look at Mikasa's phone."

"You shouldn't pry into her stuff. But anyway, why did you call me?"

"I heard that you are dating Mikasa for real now," she remarked.

"Uh, how do you know-"

"She was too obvious! I made her tell me everything."

"But isn't that-"

"It's alright. But I just wanted to ask you something."

"What is it?" What could she possibly ask me about right now that she doesn't know?

"Did Mikasa change at any time? Like, she wasn't her usual self?" I gasped.

"So she did! Every teen is so easy to tell these days."

"That's not always true! But don't change the subject. How did you know?" I demanded.

"Don't get mad. There were just some details that I know and didn't tell you about in the hospital. So how about you visit now and I'll tell you more."

"Then why didn't you tell me about it earlier?"

"There were some details at the time that I wouldn't have told you about anyway but that was when I knew you were only her pretend boyfriend."

"Why do you know so much?" I questioned.

"What? I'm just very knowledgeable on everything."

"Are you sure you didn't just pry into those kind of stuff?"

"I won't answer that but did you want to know about the sudden changes?"

"I'm too busy to visit the hospital."

"Then how about if I send you an email?"

"Sure," I replied. "I have to go." I hanged up on her and sighed.
