-well this could've ended better-
My dad and I are sitting next to each other while the usually angelic mom looks over at us probably planning our destruction. I rub the giant bump I now have on my head from the demon's wrath. I look over at dad. He has an equally large bump on his head. "Now please explain to me why it was necessary to train in the middle of dinner Adam" my mom says with murder in her eyes.
"Well Sam said he wanted to become stronger so..." My dad replies looking at the ground. "And this couldn't wait until tomorrow?" My mom asks while still holding the stick that gave us the giant bumps on our heads. "I'm sorry honey I won't do it again, I just though the sooner the better." My dad says while backing away as to not get hit again.-I guess there goes my way of getting stronger with help, seems I'm back to learning from reading books...-
"What am I going to do with you too..." She sighs and looks over at me. I flinch backwards. "I guess it would be a good idea to start training him, he does have the blood of a powerful swordsman and magician in him so he could end up being very powerful." Dad and I look up with excitement. "BUT, I will also train him and he will not be trained during meals." Mom says with a smile back on her face. "YES" I shout not able to contain my enthusiasm. "Will he be a swordsman or a magician?" Dad asks with a confused look on his face. "Both." My mom states like it's completely obvious.
-maybe I will be able to do something in this life-
As mom walks out of the room dad looks over at me with worry in his face.
-did I do something wrong?-
"What's wrong dad? Did I say something wrong?" I ask trying to make the best puppy face I could. "It's just... Well the last time your mother trained someone..." He shivers. "Let's just say it didn't end well..." I gulp. "What happened?" My dad looks up. "She tried to teach him difficult spells, but since he didn't even know the basics she got mad at him for always messing up and put him into a dragons lair. She didn't let him out until he learned how to do all of the basics while fighting the dragon." He bluntly states before exiting the room and going upstairs.
-oh god, I better make sure I have my magic skills down or else I may not survive mom's lessons...-
Age 10
"After you complete this set do another 25 of them." Mom yelled like a military commander. I was too tired to reply to this.
-can't I get a break? I've been doing this for hours! I wouldn't dare ask mom that, she would just give me harder drills if I did. I learned that the hard way-
After seeing the magic that I had been practicing without them knowing my parents were greatly impressed. They said that most people couldn't master these skills until they were at least 13 and it still took months of practice. After my mom realized I could be a prodigy she got a fire in her eyes and decided to "make me the strongest in the world." Which means harsh training and no break.
-at least I've been able to improve at a great rate, looks like I'm just going to have to deal with this training-
Every morning my dad would give me sword exercises or drills to improve my ability to sense enemies and murderous intent. He would blindfold me and then throw stones at me from different places and angles. I had to dodge them or once I improved, catch them. So far I can only dodge about half of them, but he says that most people can't even dodge 1 at first. My mom has been giving me drills to improve my different elemental powers. For the water element I have to try to move the water into different shapes, the ideal shape is that of a weapon so I can use it to defend myself. For earth I'm trying float the rocks and make them fly at a practice dummy. For wind and fire I'm just trying to make them fly in a circle around me as I also do with the other elements.
