Revenge Is Sour

Madam Pomfrey sat next to your bed on boxing day. She had delivered the news that your spots wouldn't clear up until a few days after the holiday, so you just had so sit tight and wait. The cream she was applying to your face was like tar, brown and sticky. It smelt like dung and rotting fruit.

Most of the days you sat there and read, reading the 'Wacky Underwater Plants' book that Hermione had gotten you for Christmas. It wasn't all that bad, it even had a section about gillyweed that was rather interesting. The other days you just sat there, looking at the sliver snake ring that was once your mother's, mourning hers and your father's deaths.

It was odd how your mother, a proud Ravenclaw just like your father, would have such a... Slytherin possession. The snakes on the ring practically screamed Slytherin. And what the hat said on the day of the sorting wouldn't become unstuck from your mind. They were as vivid as when the hat had first said them.

A few days after your accident, you didn't like calling it a prank, Harry and Ron come to visit you. They gave you some every flavour beans and a real chocolate frog. If felicity hadn't been such a stubborn bird you would have been able to send her to collect any Christmas presents that hadn't arrived. You hated people seeing you like this, especially Ron and Harry.

You had gone over many plans with them on how to prank Malfoy back ten times better. Ron had suggested stink bombs and other minor devices but they just weren't enough to get the blond boy back for what he did. Then, Harry and Ron had smiled.

"I know just what to do!" exclaimed Ron, his smile widening further, "And this is going to be the best prank ever!"

The spots had finally cleared and you were able to walk back into the school feeling confident. Bounding blissfully down to the Slytherin common room, you felt great. Pansy and Daphne were quietly waiting for you in the green and sliver seats of the common room.

"I'm so sorry about what Malfoy did to you, I wish I could punch him for what he did." Daphne said, earning herself an unpleasant scowl from Pansy. It puzzled you how she still liked him after seeing the things he did to you.

"So you had a good holiday?" you asked Daphne, who began to tell you about how amazing her time was with her family. You were so caught up in her chatter, you didn't notice the proud blond boy and his two sidekicks that skipped towards you and your friends.

You were the first to turn, maybe not the best idea you'd ever had. You couldn't stop yourself.

You jumped up, readying your fist to strike. You were about to, when Pansy and Daphne had come up behind you and grabbed you by the arms. It felt like your teeth were gritted so hard they would chip and crack.

"See you had a nice holiday blood-traitor, maybe a little frog reminded you of that, hey?" he said, a grin plastered upon his pale face. His hair looked slicker than usual, gelled back in tight lines.

You aggressively wrestled against your friends' grasp, but you couldn't break free. You kicked your legs in frustration. The grin on the stupid boy's face grew wider.

"You only like to bully people when your mindless lemmings are here to protect you!" You spat harshly.

"He's not worth it" Daphne said, dragging you up the stairs into your dorm room. By the time you looked back, Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle had vanished.

You, Ron, Harry and Hermione ran swiftly down the empty corridors. It took you at least five minutes to reach the place you had decided to meet them.

"This is really a very bad idea" Hermione kept chanting, as you ran. It was starting to annoy the lot of you. She had agreed to come along because she 'didn't want you to get caught' but you knew that wasn't the real reason.

"Hello, Ronald, our little brother!" said Fred, ruffling his brothers hair and petting it like it was a dog's. Ron's face went red, the same colour as his freckles.

"So, (Y/n), you needed something to prank someone?" said George, smiling widely.

"How can we help?" Their unison made you feel uneasy. It was the first time you had talked to the twins properly, Ron had never introduced you to them but they said your name as if the had heard it many times before.

"Do you have anything that will make someone loose all of the feeling in their mouth?" you asked.

Fred and George looked at one another mischievously.

"You've come to the right place!" said George.

"Oh, you certainly have!" repeated Fred.

Then, Fred reached into a bag that George had on his back. He reached in and handed you a small yellow fizzer.

"This should do the trick." said Fred, "Like they say, revenge is sour!"

You almost danced into the great hall that day. You were going to do it, Malfoy was going to shut that massive gob of his once and for all. You sat down quickly next to Daphne, where Pansy usually sits. You sat there as part of the plan, you needed to be opposite Malfoy so you could slip the fizzer into his drink.

The plan was simple. Daphne distracts Malfoy while you slip the fizzer into his pumpkin juice. Fred and George had told you the fizzer would make a drink so sour that the drinker would loose all sensation in their mouth and throat, rendering them unable to talk. They had tested a weaker version on Harry, who couldn't talk or taste for an hour after. It worked perfectly.

Five minutes passed before Malfoy and his crew came and sat down. She had to act now.

"Draco, I've heard about your amazing flying skills, can you tell me how you got that good?" said Daphne. The boy's head instantly snapped towards her. He started explaining about all of the different moves he could do on a broom, all of the different tricks and rules of quidditch. Now was the time.

Since Crabbe and Goyle were looking down at their plates, scoffing their piggy faces with food, you had the chance. You dropped the pea-sized fizzer into Malfoy's drink. You saw it fizz up some little green bubbles and then die out, looking like nothing was ever there.

After another five minutes of explaining basic quidditch rules to Daphne, Malfoy turned around to eat his breakfast. You were eagerly eyeing his drink, waiting for him to take even the littlest of sips...

He gulped down some drink. He had spat what he hadn't consumed out before you could say Salazar. He went to shout, to scream, to do anything that would signify something was wrong but he couldn't, his voice was drowned by the sour fizzer.

You were in fits of giggles, red and almost crying with laughter. The boy's pale face reddened. He gave you a glare of daggers before leaving the hall, grabbing his two sidekicks who followed him away.

You would never forget the day that Draco Malfoy was literally speechless.
