I walk up the steps towards the house, my purse over my shoulder and a bottle of soda and wine in my hands. I reach the door and press the doorbell, waiting patiently for it to be answered. I hear the sound of children's laughter and soon the door is opened in front of me.

Opie gives me a wide smile, "Hey Ems, come on in." He says, gesturing for me to step inside.

I walk in and he closes the door behind me, "I brought soda for the kids and wine for the adults." I say, holding up the bottles.

"You didn't have to do that." He says as we walk down the hall.

"Like I'm not gonna bring anything." I say as I look around his home.

"Wow Opie this is incredible." I say taking in his home.

"Thanks, we really like it." He says as we step into the lounge room.

The TV is playing and two children sit on the lounge, their eyes glued to the TV.

"Kenny, Ellie, I want you to meet someone very special." Opie says, drawing their attention.

"This is Emily and she is a good friend of your mother and I." He explains.

"Nice to meet you Emily." Ellie says, a smile on her face.

"You too sweetheart." I say, giving her a smile.

Kenny looks at me, "You're really pretty." He says absently before looking back at the TV.

I chuckle at his response and Opie rolls his eyes, "C'mon, Donna's in the kitchen." He says, leading me away.

We walk through a small archway into the kitchen and dining area. I turn the corner and see a small brunette leaning over the stove, adding some herbs to a frypan.

"Donna honey?" Opie calls out.

She looks over and her eyes land on me, a small smile spreading across her lips, "Well, well, well, look at what the cat dragged in." She says playfully, walking towards me.

I chuckle and wrap my arms around her, "Hey Donna."

"I'm so glad you're back, it's good to see you." She says holding me tightly.

I pull away, "It's good to be back."

"It's been what? Twelve years since I last saw you? You look amazing!" She says, looking me over.

I roll my eyes, "No, you look amazing. I can't even tell you've had two kids."

She scoffs, "Don't flatter me." She says, walking back to the stove.

I place my purse down on the bench and Opie turns to me, "Let me take these." He says, grabbing the bottles.

"Thank you." I say, pulling off my jacket.

"So, what would you like me to do?" I ask, turning to Donna.

"Just sit down." She says, stirring the pasta.

"I can help." I insist.

She shakes her head and looks back at me, "Opie is gonna make the salad and the garlic bread is already in the oven."

"You didn't have to go all out, I would have been happy just to have some pizza and chill like the old days." I say, leaning against the counter.

"It's fine, I'm happy to cook." She says, waving me off.

"Opie!" She calls out.

I hear his thumping footsteps before he appears in the doorway, "Yeah?"

"Wanna make the salad now? Dinner's almost ready." She says, a hint of something behind her voice.
