The Breakup

I woke up in the morning and got a shower, got dressed and went downstairs to Rhett making breakfast in the kitchen. He turned around "Ohh you're awake, I would have brought it up to you" he smiled as he placed breakfast on the table "Ohh thanks" I smiled too. We sat down at the dining table "Locke and Shep are coming today, they'll be happy to see you because you missed them last time" "I might miss them again today, I have to breakup with Alex" "You know you don't have to breakup with him, I see that he makes you happy" "I do Rhett, I can't stay in the relationship if I don't love him. I know it sounds harsh but I just don't feel anything for him like I do for you" he smiled. We finished eating breakfast and I texted Alex saying "Hey Alex, could you meet me at the café near the studio I need to talk to you" he replied with "Sure! I'll come pick you up in 20 minutes". I spent ten minutes waiting watching TV with Rhett. Just as I was about to leave Locke and Shepherd ran in and hugged Rhett then me "Chloe! Will you hang with dad and us today?" Locke asked "I'm sorry boys I have to go somewhere but if I'm back early I promise I'll spend some time with you ok?" "Aww ok" he replied. I went outside and Alex was waiting in his car, I got in "What is it you want to talk about?" he asked smiling "Umm lets get to the café then we'll talk" "Ok...". I could see he was starting to worry.

We finally arrived, I felt so awkward in the car as it was so silent. He ordered both our coffees and we sat down at a table together "So what is it?" he asked forcing a smile. I didn't want to do this but I had to. I took a sip of my coffee "Alex, I think we should breakup" "What? Why?" "It's just I see you more of a friend than anything more" "It's because I asked you to move in with me too soon isn't it" "No no it's not that" "You don't have to move in with me just please don't dump me" "Alex, you're an amazing guy-" "Chloe, please...". Seeing him break in front of me really hurt. "I'm sorry Alex, I just want to be friends. Hopefully we can still be friends" he started crying silently "I love you Chloe, please don't leave me" "I'm sorry... I've made my decision". I left some money on the table for our drinks and left. I called a taxi to take me home.

When I opened the front door to Rhetts house I was hit with many Nerf bullets but I didn't even react to them, I felt dead. Seeing Alex like that... it made me so sad. "Stop boys!" Rhett shouted as he ran up to me "Chloe, are you ok?" "I-I just want to go up to bed". He followed me upstairs to my bedroom door "How'd it go?" "I don't want to talk about it" I closed the door in his face. I laid on my bed and just cried and cried and cried. Ohh how I wished I had that razorblade!
