"Alright kiddo, I'm leaving for work" The sheriff said to his younger child, who decided to be home schooled by her brilliant older brother, Stiles. "Stiles will be home soon to help you with anything" he added, giving you a hug and a kiss and walking out the door.
You looked at your math book with wide eyes, not understand the foreign language that was in it. Mixing letters and numbers, what is this bull shit? Closing the book, you decided to wait for Stiles and work on something else. It was hard to keep your mind off your mom, she used to home school you before she passed away. The sheriff tried to take her place by tutoring you but when he spiraled out of control and started drinking, Stiles took your mothers place and tutored you.
Your guitar was on the wall right beside you. Music was considered learning right? It wasn't your guitar, it was Scott's old one that he gave to Stiles, but Stiles never used it, just tuned it all the time and played a few notes, so you kind of considered it your.
You logged onto the computer, heading straight for google to learn how to play a new song. You picked it up really quickly, learning the first verse and the chorus in a half hour.
"Damn, Damn, Damn, What I'd do to have you here, here, here" you sang along as you played the guitar.
Wish You Were Here by Avril Lavigne, was a song you always played when you missed your mother the most, now you could play and sing it yourself, which made your mood lift a bit. Your mom would be proud.
"Sounds really good" Stiles said from the corner of the room, putting his back pack down, "Missing mom?"
"Yeah" you said sadly, knowing Stiles did as well.
"Me too" he commented, "Did you just learn that song, shouldn't you be doing homework?" he smirked.
"I was waiting for you to get home to help me with it" you admitted, putting the guitar down.
"What do you need help with?" He asked, coming to sit next to you to look at the problems in the book.
"Page 124" you said as he flipped through the book.
"Ohhhhh, I can see why you need help, I hate this stuff, but I can teach you" he told you grabbing the notebook and pencil that was beside you.
After an hour of Stiles teaching you how to do the worst algebra you have ever seen, you finally got it down, knowing all the steps to solve the problem.
"Thank you" you said with a grin, Stiles grinned back at you.
"I have to go though, Scott needs me, want me to pick something up for dinner, dads working late" Stiles said.
"Yeah, you know what I like" you said a little sad, you liked spending time with your brother, he always put a smile on your face, always knew how to make you feel better.
"You okay?" he asked again, remembering you were upset earlier.
"Fine" you said simply, putting the guitar back against the wall and grabbing your books.
"Do you want to come with me and hang out with Scott?" Stiles asked, "He won't mind, or he can come here"
Stiles looked at you as you stood there and thought for a while. You really didn't want Stiles to leave, and you really didn't want to go to Scott's.
"I'll invite him here" he said with a smile, as you walked back down the stairs to give him a hug.
"Thank you" you said happily, "You Be The Anchor That Keeps My Feet On The Ground"
"Is that a song" Stiles chuckled.
"Yeah, I learned it today" you said.
"Let me hear it" he said with a smile, texting Scott to come over here instead.
As you waited for Scott, you and Stiles sang along to the songs you were playing on the guitar. Scott joining when he got there and playing more songs for all of you to sing along to.
