Over the years happy times and bittersweet memories have come and gone but the dark cloud over the place that was suppose to be called home remained. Undeniably the main memory that haunted you most was the night your eldest son Shu fell ill.
It was right after everyone was just about finished with dinner when Shu began to cough uncontrollably. You ran to his side but the moment you held him in your arms blood started pouring down from his mouth.
Tears fell from your eyes landing on his face as you held your now pre-teen son. "Shu! Shu! What's the matter!? I dont understand, what happened!?!?"
Reiji ran to his older brothers plate, determined to see if he could find something and he did. A strange white powdery substance had been sloppily mixed into the food.
You were the one who prepare the meal so all eyes fell on you. Your husband, Karl Heinz, frowned, unamused by the night turning sour. "Have you lowered yourself to the point where you would poision your own son? Does your hatred for me now reach our children?"
Crying uncontrollably you lost your composure and yelled at your king. "I would never harm my children! How can you say such things! Help him! NOW!" Karl smiled enjoying your desperate state. When it concerned the children you always ran to him begging for his assistance. It is the only time you bother to speak with him.
He walked over to Shu and injected him with a strange pink liquid. "This shall help with the pain and allow him to sleep off whatever poison he digested."
You pressed your cheek against your sons tightly as you rocked him until he fell asleep.
Karl placed his hand on your shoulder. "Let me carry him to bed. We need to speak about this incident." Leaving the rest of the young boys behind with their mothers including Reiji.
Karl followed you to your own private room and placed Shu on the bed gently knowing if he didn't handle him with care that you would scold him. "So your saying it was not you who poisoned Shu but someone else correct? Who might that be love?"
Brushing Shu's hair to the side you smiled but the tone in your reply was harsh. "You and I both know who would do such a thing but...we both also know you will just give her a slap on the wrist right?"
Karl chuckled. "Have I ever said to you that you're my favorite wife? Your the only one who fills my thoughts and cause me so much joy. Your also so very intelligent. You see right through me don't you? My beautiful, sexy, formidable wife." Karl held you in his arms but you did not return the gesture of affection. "Don't change the subject. Will you send us away just like you did when you broke my sweet Shu's heart? You had the ability to save Edgar but you let him die. Just because Cordelia had a fit. She said commoners weren't welcome and he was better off dead so you blindly did what she wanted." Karl sighed heavily. "She is the key to my research. Without her my years of work would go to waste."You pushed him away and brought your attention to Shu who was now sleeping peacefully. Karl's strange pink serum worked wonders.
"What shall my punishment be?" You asked nonchalantly. Karl grit his teeth. Ultimately he had no choice in this matter. Poisoning a heir to the throne was punishable by death but he didnt want to take that route. He cursed Cordelia for her troublesome ways but what was an all powerful, fear worthy king suppose to do? Of course he had to keep up with his appearance but this time he was truly at a loss.
"Say goodbye to the children. You will be gone before sunrise."~♡~
It didnt matter how much you pleaded or begged your husband his mind was made up. It was either a very public death or a faked private one where he would have to hide you away for the rest of your days in order to avoid killing you.
This meant you were to live a life in solitude far away from the rest of the world including your sons. Only he would be allowed to visit you. Even your own children will believe that you were sentenced to death.
In the end you came to terms with the situation. Cordelia had really outdone herself with this one. She finally got her way and it did not stop there. You were ordered to leave the home immediately without speaking to anyone. Karl did nothing to stop it so you wrote your children a letter that would be opened on Shu's 18th birthday.
Word had spread quickly that you tried to poison your son. However no one truly bought the gossip being spread by Cordelia's maids. Everyone knew your sons were the only thing keeping you going. There was no motive and people began to suspect Cordelia. The kingdom shunned her and Karl had to address this carefully.
Standing before his kingdom Karl spoke with conviction and authority. He, to Cordelia's surprise, sided with you. She was not expecting this and was locked away with full knowledge that she would be the one to be beheaded. "Richter. Richter take my heart. So I can return and take my revenge. I was framed and betrayed by Karl." Richter stood before her cell as she desperately reached out to him. "I'm afraid I won't be falling for such a terrible attempt to sway me. Karl has already achieved his goal without you. If I try to retaliate he will surely end my life. It was only a matter of time until your childish behavior led you to your early demise. Accept your fate. Vile women like you are only a passing fancy. That is why Karl never truly loved you. He only saw you as a means to and end. But it's thanks to you we can bond over the memory of watching your head roll." Cordelia screamed in frustration as Richter exited the dungeon, never looking back. Not even once.
She was visited by the young and impressionable Reiji. He only wanted to know why. And Cordelia did the only thing she knew how to do. Lie....
Filling your son up with pain and despair she managed to convince him that your love for Shu was much greater than your love for him. This caused him to grow a deep rooted hatred towards his brother. One that you had not noticed right away. Slowly his mind became twisted. Your little one grew mad with vengeance and you realized it too late.
As the years passed Reiji grew cold and distant. You tried to hold onto that once sweet young man but he was long gone. He was replaced by a calculating man who was willing to do anything to prove himself worthy of your undivided love.
