In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
‘Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (s.a.s), his blessed descendents and noble companions.’
Aameen.
Jumaada al Awwal & Jumaada al Aakhir
Meaning:
The first month of summer. "Jumaada" means dry. The origin of the word is as follows: the word Jumaada, from which the name of the month is derived, is used to denote dry parched land: land devoid of rain, and hence denote the dry months.
Jumaada al Awwal is the fifth month of the Islamic Calendar while Jumaada al-Thani is the sixth month in the Islamic Calendar. It is also known as Jumaada al Aakhir and Jumaada al-Aakhira.
The Ahadith prescribes no special “amal” (action) to be practiced during these months. It is a tendency amongst some people to celebrate “Gyarahwin Sharief’ on the 11th of Rabi‘ul Akhir. If, however, it is the intention of those celebrating the “Gyarahwin Sharief’ for the purpose of ‘Isale-Thawab’ then it is incorrect to specify certain days of the month for the performance of such “Isale-Thawab”*.
There is no proclamation that specifies that such a practice needs to be done on any specific day or month. However, it is emphasized that ‘Isale-Thawab’ is permissible provided that its observance does not conflict with any condition or practice laid down by the religion.
* Isale -Thawab (i.e . the remitting of thawab to the deceased) is permissible. The method of Isale -Thawab is:
Upon the completion of any Nafl (optional) action, for example Nafl Salah or Nafl fast or Nafl charity which is given to the poor or needy, the intention should be made that the reward and thawab of this action be granted to a specified person or persons, Ex. one’s late parents or to the Ummat of Muhammad SAW etc.

This month (Jumaada al Awwal)’s 13, 14 and 15th fasting falls on March 5, 6 and 7th… while Jumaada al Aakhir’s fasting falls on April 3, 4 and 5. Don’t forget to observe these Nafl fasts In shaa Allah to gain awesome rewards.
As it was narrated that Abu Dharr (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to me: “If you fast any part of the month, then fast the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth.” [Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 761; al-Nasaa’i, 2424;]
Wassalam,
abdurRahman (Gudi)
