I write about outsiders. People on the edge of something: adulthood, collapse, reinvention. My books tend to orbit the same gravitational pulls: power, shame, love, ambition, obsession, and the mess between who you are and who you're supposed to be.

Some stories take place in church basements, others in college dorms or nowhere towns, but they all start with a question I can't let go of. What happens when you break the rules and don't get punished for it? What happens when you do?

My work is sharp, emotional, and character-driven. I don't flinch away from complex themes, or the kinds of feelings you're not supposed to name out loud. I believe in letting the characters get it wrong. I believe in writing toward the ache.

If you like your fiction flawed, furious, or a little too honest, you might like it here.
