I didn't submit for round 2 of ONC. It pains me to end my successful ONC streak, but life doesn't care for your personal goals. I had to restructure my priorities. As a result, writing had to be put on hold to make time for art.

I will be offering art commissions and maybe book covers soon. I'm getting my portfolio together right now and will soon officially open shop.

It's a big change. I'm excited and terrified but I have to try.

This doesn't mean that my books are getting abandoned. I absolutely will finish them, but I can't do it all at the same time.

Here's to starting the next chapter.

Hi, I just wanted to ask you this as I know you write a lot. Have you been published before? Do you think traditional publishing or self publishing is better?

I originally thought traditional publishing was better but now I'm starting to think self publishing is the way to go as trying to get traditionally published just doesn't seem to go anywhere.

Any advice? No worries if not

@eponinesummers Thanks so much! That makes a lot of sense

@eponinesummers there are pros and cons to both. Traditional publishing has its perks. I'm theory, it should be easier (once you actually get a deal), but from what I've heard, lots of newbie authors don't get much.
Self publishing is nowhere close to easy because then you have to do everything on your own, learn how to do 15 jobs (unless you have $$$ to invest in it).

Right now I'm self publishing because I like how I get to maintain full creative control. In the future? Who knows. I might go trad if the opportunity is right.

ONC chapter drop! Tabby's trying to get her money back and gets a bit more in return... Hehehe.

So I crossed 2k. Should I submit it already? I guess there’s still time but I don’t want to spend time editing it right now. I’d rather continue writing anyway, and if I submitted it, it would be one less thing to worry about.

@Kamiccola I don't like spending too much time editing when I'm on a roll. I say submit it and keep writing. ♥

Friends, if you have an ONC story up, give me the link so I can add it to my list. Let's expand our reach.

Kamiccola

I got it! I know what I'll write for ONC this year. What about you? Did any of the prompts speak to you?

Kamiccola

@cynicalchristian you know, the vague ones give you the most wiggle room. Good luck!

@AuthorESElias That sounds awesome. Good luck!

@Kamiccola yeah, that's true. Shapeshifting cats sounds pretty awesome lol - My main promtp is #12, and secondary is #130.

I'm getting ready for the onc season. I'm really looking forward to it. A new story sounds great right now.

I'm finishing up what I've been working on recently - editing The Merlin Paradox (volume 1). I finished the revisions I wanted in the beginning chapters. The middle doesn't need too much work, I hope. The end will need some work since this used to be one book that's now split into two. What used to be the midpoint plot twist is now the climax of the first volume. I suspect a lot of revisions there.

If I find a good ONC prompt, though, then TMP will have to be put on hold again. Sigh.
If only I could do everything at the same time...

Kamiccola

5 days until ONC. Do you plan to participate?
I'm looking forward to seeing the prompts. I know that I have so many WIPs, I really shouldn't start another, but I love every book I've written for it (4 already).

@Kamiccola I think I tend to be an over-writer, so having the format on a generous but clear deadline is really good for helping me get to the point, and over my perfectionism. And I've honestly enjoyed editing my novella into a novel lol

Kamiccola

@AuthorESElias me too. Let's hope for some good ones.

@alcoholandcaffeine I agree. Novella format works for me. I'm an underwriter so later when I edit more thoroughly, they sometimes become novels.
