Does anyone have an update on Soobook? I notice that some Wattpad books are still up there. I have taken down all but the first 10 chapters of The Wakeful Wanderer's Guide to New New England & Beyond because I don't want it stolen and put behind a paywall from which I will see nothing $$. I know it's a Chinese website and they don't respect copyright laws but this puts a big chill on the open posting of full novels here and makes me nervous about posting works in progress. I'd love to get the whole book back up again for you all, but I need to have some reassurance from @wattpad or someone.

Note to my followers: because of piracy concerns, I will be removing all but the first 10 chapters of The Wakeful Wanderer's Guide to New New England & Beyond from Wattpad on February 2. I loved having it all up here, but I have to act because of worries about other websites sucking the content off of Wattpad to offer for money without permission or recompense.

I'm torn.
There is a Chinese website called soobook.com that is sucking complete books, Watty badges and all from Wattpad and charging people to read them with no distribution of money to or permission from the author.
They don't have my work - yet, but I've seen some of my friends here get siphoned off. Legal repercussions are ineffective because they are in China.
I really love posting my work here for free reading in exchange for comments, but I'm thinking I should maybe take down complete works because it puts my intellectual property at risk.
I'm curious to know what your thoughts are. Also checkout that site and warn your friends if their stuff is up there.

Absolutely. Sadly, I think it's time to put a time limit on the full text of Wakeful Wanderer 1 and then limit it to 10 chapters plus a link to buy. That won't stop all the theft, but knowing there is at least 1 site out there just sucking material off of here makes me question the wisdom of leaving the whole thing up there.

@JimInfantino I feel like I actually saw an ad for this website here on Wattpad??? Weird. Unfortunately, there are sites everywhere trying profit off other people's work.

I have a request for advice. I'm considering going to KDP Select for my first novel. Have any of you published this way? I'm not sure, but I think that if I do that I would have to take off all but 10% of my novel from here and some other places. Do you know if that's true? Any thoughts?

Thank you all for the feedback. I'm going to go over the contract. It's up on Amazon anyway - I was just trying to use them to get around the terrible time I've been having wit Smashwords / formatting epub from Scrivener. I also wonder if it would give the book a boost. I will let you know what I find out.
I suppose my novel has had a good amount of time up on WP unabridged and maybe downgrading it to teaser 10% plus link would be okay, since it's had some reads already. I can always give WP readers a view of my current stuff.

@JimInfantino That's my understanding, too. I have 10% of my debut here, and it's going on sale KDP select 12/1. The grey area, I think, is if you have a draft version of a story up at Wattpad, which is significantly different from what you're selling through KDP. In that case, I believe you may be able to leave the WP version up in full and still do KDP -- certainly would be interested to hear from someone who knows for sure.
