@Deep6OceanEyes I lived on the side of a mountain for the most time I’d ever spent in one house (so about 6 years). Every summer, I would go up a hill and play in the trees, gathering berries and roots and finding sticks to make swords and bows out of, sitting in trees, and there was a group of boulders nearby I called ‘the quarry’ and there was shiny stuff and quartz in it so I’d bust up my hands tryna break it out of the boulders. That was also where I had a lovely little mud pit.
I was always dirty when I came inside lol
In the winter, I would use the piles of snow as castles and make holes to store ice tools and rocks, then the branches weighed down and covered by snow in the lowest parts of the trees made nice hovels for houses, where I’d collect moss and fern branches to make beds.
Those make up most of my core memories, and I always wish I could go back, even if it would be to just visit.
The forest is gone, now, though. People came in and subdivided the property so they had to cut down all the trees
