Writing is like music
But the author plays the soul.
Each sentence is a measure,
Each syllable a note.

She plucks at heartstrings
Using letters in ink.
She can make you feel anything
As the piece swells and sinks.

With every crescendo,
Your pulse will race.
Every pause,
Each space,

Will be like a drop
Off the face of the earth.
And each moment without her words
You will question life's worth.

The melody she creates
Can be compared to none before:
The sweetest thing you've ever heard,
But inflicts a pain you can't ignore.

It throbs,
It moves,
It breathes,

It lives in you
For as long as you read.

And even when you put the words
To rest,
This being will hide
In the recesses of your chest
Until it is woken
Once again,
And then,
Will roar to life once more.

So when an author dies,
Her life will never be forgotten,
So long as there are people
To rouse the melody again.

This poem of mine explains why I write. I want to make a difference in the world, so I put words on a page and do my best to reflect the truth from within my heart.

I've had a few people who know me ask why I chose my username. These quotes are why:

"Being a geek is all about being honest about what you enjoy and not being afraid to demonstrate that affection. It means never having to play it cool about how much you like something. It's basically a license to proudly emote on a somewhat childish level rather than behave like a supposed adult. Being a geek is extremely liberating."
~Simon Pegg

"...because nerds like us are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff... Nerds are allowed to love stuff, like jump-up-and-down-in-the-chair-can't-control-yourself love it. Hank, when people call people nerds, mostly what they're saying is 'you like stuff.' Which is just not a good insult at all. Like, 'you are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness'."
