Tragedy

I ran out of the trauma room right passed meredith. I ran into the OR.
" what's going on?" I asked.
" the brain bleed... It's causing her to have seizures." Karev said. She was having one right now. I had them push multiple medicines through her body so she would stop.
" Karev scrub in."
I never thought I would have to operate on someone that was this close to me.
" it's a beautiful day to save lives." I said. No one cracked a smile. Everyone was serious.
" scalpel." I said to a nurse. About an hour into the surgery Lexie coded on me.
" START COMPRESSIONS!" I yelled. I grabbed the paddles "CHARGING TO 200 CLEAR!" I shocked her but still nothing. No heart beat.
" CHARGING TO 300 CLEAR!" Our hearts all dropped when She was still flatlining.
" I need to close her head up." I said
" are you done?"
" no."
" then go control the bleeders I'll keep doing compressions."
" fine but when I stay stop you stop understand?"
" yes sir."
" okay start compressions." Once I was ready I told him to stop. I started to cauterize the bleeders.
" okay start compressions again."
I told him to stop as I full stopped the bleeders and made sure everything was healed.
" okay shock 300." He did. Still nothing.
" damn it!" Amy walked in as soon as I yelled and started compressions.
" oh Derek... I'm so sorry."
" amy? What are you doing here? Oh no no no no no please no!"
" derek he's fine for now what do you need me to do?"
" I need you to close her head for me."
" okay."
Once her head was closed we kept pumping medicine into her and shocking her and compressions.
" derek it's been over an hour..." Alex said
" no we're not calling it I'm not calling it." I continued " Come on lex don't do this you can't do this! We need you. I need you, Mer needs you, Mark and the kids need you!" She kept flatlining. " COME ON LEX DONT DO THIS YOU CANT LEAVE US HERE!" I took my elbow and my whole body weight and slammed it on her chest. I started pacing until her heart beat was back.
" Derek... You did it!" Amy said
" it worked?!"
" it worked." Alex sighed.
" get her into ICU I want an eye on her the whole time." I said. Suddenly I felt nauseous.
" what's up derek?" Amy asked
I ran out of the OR into the hallway where Meredith was.
" Derek?!" Amy followed me out.
" take off my mask!"
" what why?"
"TAKE OFF MY MASK TAKE IT OFF!" Amy ripped off my mask as I puked on the floor.
"DEREK?!" Meredith yelled running over. " Derek it's okay it's okay just breathe."
She gave me a hug. " it's okay derek you did everything you could I love you it's okay."
" what are you talking about?"
" wait why did you vomit?"
" because I just operated and almost lost your sister and my sister in law and my best friends wife."
" she's alive she's okay?" Meredith smiled
" she's okay"
" i love you derek!" She hugged me
" I love you too."
