"Oh, Miss Tendo~! Mr. Saotome~!" The director of the school drama club called the two students as they were helping to clean the classroom after school. "May I have a moment of your time?"
Ranma leaned on the broom he was holding with a quirked eyebrow. "Yeah, what is it?"
"Can we help you," (Name) added, turning to face him as she pushed one of the desk out of the way.
The club director smiled. "The members have been talking, and we've come to the conclusion that the only way we can win the Regional High School Drama Club Competition this year is to perform a play filled with romance, sword fights, and tragedy."
Ranma tilted his head a bit. "Neat, but how does that involve us?"
"We've selected the two of you to play the leads!"
(Name) stared at the drama club director with sparkling, hopeful eyes. She stepped over to him and asked, "Really? Me?"
"Yes, of course! You're the perfect fit for our play. Your charm and subtle allure has not gone unnoticed by us, and we need you for our performance."
(Name) stared at him for a moment before she came to her senses and questioned, "Hey, but, don't I have to audition to get the lead? I'm sure there are other girls that have worked hard to get the role; it isn't fair to just hand it to me."
"Au contraire! The only one to audition for the lead role was Rida Okino, and she has the absolute worst interpretation of the character! We can't do anything with her."
Ranma snickered before gently nudging (Name) with his elbow. "Sounds like the prima donna got too big for her britches."
(Name) grinned. "If that's the case, then I'll do it!"
The director beamed. "Wondrous! I just know we can win with you as the leading lady!"
Ranma raised his eyebrow. "Win?"
"The winning play of the Drama Club Competition gets an invitation to see China. Each year, we've gotten oh, so close to winning."
At the mention of China, Ranma immediately gave his full attention to the drama club director. "China?! Seriously?! The winning play gets to see China?!"
The director nodded. "Why, yes. Does that mean you'll be our male lead?"
"Sure!" He shook the director's hand. 'What choice do I have? A free trip to China, to the Jusenkyo springs... I can be cured!'
"Excellent!"
(Name) bounced on her feet excitedly as she asked, "When do we start?"
The director gave them both a script and told them, "Rehearsals start tomorrow after school. See you two there!"
Once he left, (Name) looked down at the title printed in fancy lettering on her script. "Romeo and Juliet...? Ah." She scratched her cheek nervously as she blushed.
Her fiance glanced over at her. "What's the matter? Gettin' cold feet already?"
"N-no, I just... wasn't expecting this play."
Ranma quickly flipped through the script as he shrugged, "Looks easy enough. Not too long, and there aren't too many characters. Great!"
"Ranma, have you ever even heard of this play?" Ranma shook his head, making (Name) sigh. Then, she looked him in the eyes and told him, "If we win this, we can cure everyone! We've gotta give it our all, no matter what, okay?"
They clasped hands in comradery as Ranma agreed, "You bet!"
When they got home, they alerted the others about their plan. (Name) held up an old bookbag and told Ryoga and Shampoo, "We'll sneak you two in this to the springs and then you can get cured!"
