Lana had a difficult time adjusting to her new home. Sure, she had Freya to accompany her, but she missed her home. She missed her brother, her people, and sadly she did miss her mother. She had never been away from her family or home.

The feelings she was experiencing were all too foreign to her and it became overwhelming. It only made it worse that Ivar made it his mission to ensure that Lana was miserable every waking day.

The only good thing that came out of the arrangement her mother made with Ivar was that he hardly showed any romantic feelings for her. All his attention and affection was directed to his beloved Freydis, whom Lana was positive had bewitched him.

Once Freydis entered the picture Ivar had become a ruthless tyrant. She had filled his mind with the idea that he was crippled because he was a god. Lana had to scoff at that one. It only made his ego ten times bigger than it already was.

"Ivar!" Hvitserk roared as he bursted into the great hall.

Lana watched on in amusement as she braided her hair. She lived to see the moments when Hvitserk would call Ivar out for all of his foolishness.

"Yes, brother?" Ivar smirked as he lifted his horn full of wine to his lips. Freydis sat at his side, her head raised high as if she were the queen. Lana rolled her eyes at that.

"Why did you kill her?!" He demanded stalking closer to the self appointment king.

Lana frowned slightly as she continued to listen. Who had Ivar kill?

"I did not kill anyone." Ivar laughed and turned his head towards Freydis. She smiled at him and rested a hand on his arm. "The girl was mad, are you positive she didn't kill herself?" Ivar tilted his head to the side to gaze at Hvitserk who was fuming.

"You killed Margrethe?" Lana finally spoke up. She hoped it wasn't true. She hardly knew the girl, but she didn't deserve to die. She was mentally ill, not a threat to anyone.

"Did I say you could speak?" Ivar glared at Lana.

"I don't need permission to speak. I was given a tongue so I shall use it." Lana barked back. She stood up from her chair and walked over to the throne so that she was standing right besides Hvitserk. "You're a horrible person." She spat at him.

"You're a horrible person." Ivar mimicked her. Freydis let out a little laugh which only made Lana even more enraged. "Go sit down and keep your mouth shut." Ivar ordered before turning his attention back to his brother.

"I did not kill your whore." He smiled.

"Ivar I have stood by your side for a lot, but this...you've gone too far." Hvitserk did look genuinely hurt.

"The only whore I see is besides you." Lana mumbled under her breath.

"What did you say?" Ivar sat up in his throne chair. Freydis frowned as she hadn't heard what Lana had said.

"I said the only whore I see is besides you." She pointed at Freydis. "And you're just a bastard."

Ivar eye's darkened as he threw his horn on the ground. The wine spilling out onto the floor. He stood up so fast that Lana almost had whiplash looking at him. He grabbed his crutches and quickly made his way over to Lana. He tightly grabbed a fist full of her hair and pulled her to him.

Lana winced in pain as she frantically tried to loosen his grip on her hair. He thrusted her forward so that she fell at the feet of Freydis.

"Ask for forgiveness."

Lana took deep breathes as she shook her head no. Ivar clenched his teeth as he was keeping himself from inflicting serious pain to her.

"Ivar it's okay," Freydis tried to help.

"No, she disrespected you."

Lana wiped her nose as she looked from Ivar to Freydis than back to Ivar again. "You're arranged to be married to me, not her. Therefore I can not disrespect someone who is considered below my ranks. Yes, you may coddle and show affection to her, but I am the one you have promised yourself to. If my mother hears of how you are treating me the deal will be off." Lana says with confidence.

Ivar stares at her for a bit. "Get out." He growls at her.

"Gladly." Hvitserk walked over to Lana and helped her off the floor. "Thank you."

Hvitserk nods his head and steps back.

"The gods do not favor you Ivar the boneless. Your reign will end in tragedy if you continue to treat those around you this way. Freydis will be your downfall and I will gladly stand by and watch her spells bring your world crashing down." Lana quickly left the great hall. Hvitserk hot on her heels.

"Why'd you say that in there? He's only going to get revenge on you." Hvitserk walked alongside her.

Lana shrugged her shoulders. "What more could he possible do to me?"

Nothing could be worse than being in the presence of Ivar.

Later on that day, Lana sat in an alley behind her "home" watching the local children playing.

"Lana!"

Lana looked up to see Freya making her way towards her.

"There you are, I've been looking for you." Freya sat besides her.

"Why?" Lana turned her eyes back to the children playing. They were so happy without a care in the world. She missed the days when she was like those kids.

"Did you not hear? Ivar has arranged for your wedding ceremony to be tomorrow!"

Lana snapped her head to Freya.

"What?"

"Yes, Ivar is marrying you tomorrow."
