“I’ll see you tomorrow, alright?” I asked as I pulled my shirt back on over my head.

“Yeah, see you tomorrow.” Dyson said, buttoning his pants and shifting awkwardly on the bed.

I pecked him on the cheek before grabbing my monkey and headed for the door before quickly turning around and looking Dyson in his deep blue eyes. “I love you.”

He smiled but was still a little jittery. “I love you too.”

With one last smile, I turned and closed the door behind me as I walked down the hallway with shaky knees. I memorized my way down the hallway and towards the door for my car with Steve encased in my sweaty palm. Now, I know what you’re thinking. And no, we didn’t… you know… do it. We just came really, painfully close and I’m sure at this moment, Dyson is suffering through a cold shower.

“Who the hell are you?” A voice bellowed behind me, causing me to let out a small squeak of surprise and spinning on my heals. There stood a man about in his fifties and wearing what looked to be an extremely expensive suit, very clean cut and tailored with a briefcase in his hand and a stern, scary look on his face. I could see Dyson all over him. The eyes, the nose, his hair. Except his hair was receding and he looked crazily older and much angrier. It was obvious to see that this was Dyson’s father.

“Oh, um, I was just leaving.” I mumbled.

“That’s not what I asked, young lady.” He snipped, stopping me from turning towards the door.

“I’m Tyler. Dyson’s friend.”

“And why exactly are you here?” He asked, the frown never leaving his face.

“I brought him back from the hospital.” I said simply. “You did know that he was in the hospital, right?”

His frown deepened, as if that was possible. “Of course I knew.” He snapped.

I sighed. “Really? I didn’t see you there.”

“I was-“

“I don’t care.” I snapped. “But don’t act like I owe you respect, sir. Have a good day.” And before I could cuss him out or something for treating Dyson the way he does, I turned around quickly and stormed out the door.

Wow, I wish meeting parents didn’t have to go like that… awkward.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~'''''''
Speaking of meeting parents, this whole dinner thing was becoming the most awkward thing in my life because the days went by quickly as I spent a lot of time with Dyson and Andrew, most of the time with both of them since Dyson luckily seemed to like Andrew. And his jealousy had easily worn off. It was still a little bit weird, but I really missed Andrew and I had to spend time with him before he left.
But that didn’t make this dinner any less awkward.
Because right now, I was seated at my dinner table between Dyson and Toni with Andrew across from Toni and my mom sitting next to him, across from me.
“How long have you two known each other?” My mom asked as she popped a bite of spaghetti in her mouth.
“Since we moved here.” I said simply. “He’s in most of my classes.”
“Then why haven’t I met you before?” She asked.
Dyson just shrugged. “Long story.”
I chuckled and nodded my agreement while we all ate.
“Well, it’s about time you finally got a boyfriend.” Andrew teased with a small smirk on his face.
“I second that.” Toni chirped.
“Third.” My mom called, causing Dyson to snicker besides me.
“Shut up.” I whined. “All of you.”
“Are you going to college, Dyson?” My mom asked, changing the subject.
“I’m going to med school.” He said formerly.
“But he really wants to do culinary. He’s an amazing cook.” I bragged, earning a small glare from Dyson by my side.
“Then why med school?” My mom asked.
“Father’s dream.” Dyson mumbled.
My mom kept firing off the typical questions that moms ask and Dyson kept answering them honestly and smoothly. He was a lot better with my mom than I think he thought he would be. A while passed and the questions faded as dinner was over and my mom brought out the lemon merengue pie.
“So…” My mom drawled out giving Toni an eye, trying to send her a mental message.
Toni gasped and stood up from the table. “Oh! We should leave, Andrew. My mom’ll get worried.”
Andrew didn’t believe her, but sensed the topic coming on and nodded, looking at me. “I’ll be leaving tomorrow at noon so I’ll see you in the morning.”
I nodded and we said our goodbyes before the left, leaving me helpless and defenseless against my mom’s fury of the subject.
I could tell that Dyson knew it was coming too because he tensed up incredibly.
“Mom, this isn’t necessary.” I said quickly.
“No, nonsense. I have to be a good mother so it is.”
“We aren’t doing… anything.” Dyson said quietly.
“For now.” My mom said confidently.
“Mom!” I hissed. “Condoms, pills, everything. We’re good, okay? So let’s not talk about it.”
She just laughed. “No need to worry, Tyler. I’ll shut up. But I’m happy for you. You make a cute couple.”
And queue the blushing.
