Going To The Surface

You ran a few feet behind the four brothers, leaping from rooftop to rooftop. Leo had finally agreed to let you accompany them on a nightly patrol, so long as you stick to the sidelines if a fight takes place. While Raph and Mikey were completely for the idea as well, Donnie seemed to be against it. It had you skeptical, how panicked he became when he'd found out you would come with them to the surface that night.

Maybe he didn't want me around. You frowned at the thought.

When you realize you're lacking behind the rest of them, you attempt to speed up. In the process of doing so, you realize the large gap between to building you're about to overcome. You gasp, lunging yourself over the gap, desperate to make it to the other side. While the others make it to the next rooftop, you plummet down.

"AHH!" You screech, snatching onto a fire escape pole for dear life.

"(Y/N)!" Mikey yells, catching the attention of the rest of the brothers. They run back, peering over the building ledge.

"Crap. No way she coulda' make that one." Raph says as they all stare down to you gripping the balcony fence. Donnie, however, shoved past the rest of his brothers and leaps off the rooftop without hesitation. He lands on the balcony, causing it to shake. You gasp, hugging tighter onto the pole.

"Careful Don!" Leo calls from above.

"(Y/N), are you okay?" Donnie gawks down at you from the balcony.

"Ah, y'know." You bite your lip. "Just chillin'."

He smiles at this, reaching down to you. You grab his one hand and in an instant you're pulled up to your feet on the balcony. Well, not on your feet, really. Donnie held you against his side as he used his free hand to climb up the balconies back to the rooftop. Your arms head around his neck on instinct.

"There. Safe and sound." The purple clad teenager smiles down at you charmingly.

"Thanks." You beam, before the sound of an awkward throat clearing is heard. You turn your head to witness Leo stand with crossed arms and a raised eye ridge, while Raph and Mikey stand behind him with taunting smirks. Your confused by Leo's notion, before you realize your position. You stood right at Donnie's side, your hand on his plastron and his arm around your waist. You jerk back, the warmth of his body leaving your side. Donnie looks down in embarrassment.

"Uh-" You begin, before being interrupted by an abrupt scream in the distance. You and the brothers all turn their heads in sync toward the source of the noise. Looking to one another, you all take off.

Once reaching the source of the scream of help, Leo, Raph and Donnie peer over the rooftop edge while you stand back with Mikey.

"Kraang." Leo concludes. Unable to contain your curiosity, you run over to the edge as well. Your jaw drops at the sight. Several tied and blindfolded people are thrown into the back of a large van by these so called 'Kraang' men in suits the turtles had told you so much about. It did seem a bit far fetched that there was an Alien race building droids in order to rule the world, but as it was coming from a mutant turtle, you chose to believe it.

"Well, what're we waitin' for? Let's get down there and kick some metal." Raph retracts his sais from his belt. Leo, Mikey and Donnie mimick his move, retrieving their weapons. Leo looks back at you.

"You stay here, (Y/N)." Leo says sternly. You sigh.

"C'mon, Leo. I can handle myself. Really, I can!" You insist, earning a scoff from Raph. Leo just shakes his head.

"No, (Y/N). We can't risk you getting hurt. Especially after that. If you can't handle a rooftop, you can't handle the enemy." You're taken aback by his statement, watching with anger as he stealthily creeps down the side of the building. Raph goes down as well.

"That's so unfair..." You mumble. Donnie smiles apologetically, before going down as well.

"Don't worry about it, dudette. Maybe next time." Mikey salutes before taking off.

You inch closer to the edge, watching as the four of them cautiously duck behind a dumpster in the alleyway.

"So unfair." You repeat yourself to no one in particular. You heave a frustrated sigh of defeat. Deciding to just settle for front row seats to the turtles kick droid butt, you get settled, perched at the edge of the building. You watch for a few minutes before they spring into action.

"KAWABUNGA!" Mikey squeals, causing you to giggle.

"It is the ones called the turtle from the team of the ones called the turtles-" A droid was cut off by his sentence when the extendable blade of Mikey's nun chucks slices its head off.

"Awesome." You beam. Watching the four ninjitsu masters kick and slice the droids was just an... exhilarating feeling. However, there was one in particular you had your eye on.

As Donatello spun his bo staff skillfully with ease, knocking another droid off it's feet, you notice one of the Kraang standing from the ground. While Donnie is preoccupied with accompanying his brothers in the fight, the droid retrieves a blaster from a holster on it's waist, aiming it directly at Don's head. As Donatello flips and turns, followed by striking another droid, the Kraang's blaster's aim follows him. You gasp in panic, looking desperately to the other three to help. They're too busy being bombarded by more droids flooding into the alleyway. You become anxious.

"DONNIE! BEHIND YOU!" You attempt to yell over the sound of gun blasts and weapons hitting metal. "DONATELLO!" You cup your hands over your mouth desperately. Still nothing. The lights on the blaster were charging up, smoke spewing from the busted gun. It was charging.

This could not be more cheesey. You thought.

You decided you had no choice but to take action.

You sigh, standing upright. Mumbling, "This is going to leave a mark.", mere seconds before leaping off the three story building. You extend your arms in front of yourself as you fall head first toward the droid aiming a blaster at Donnie.

"EEYAH!" You screech as if it were to make a more effective hit. You plunge into the droid, sparks flying as it's back scrapes against the ground. Your head clanks against the hard chest of the droid, before you fly off of it. Even more damaged than before, the bot falls lifeless.

"Ow." You roll onto your back, cupping a large gash in the side of your head. "That was stupid." You groan, before a wave of pain washed over your entire left leg. You scream out in agony, finally catching the attention of the four brothers. Raph and Mikey finish off a few more droids, while Leo runs over to the van to get the lock on the door busted open.

"(Y/N)!" Donnie bellows. He sprints across the alley, dropping to his knees to lift your body slightly off the ground. You scream again, his action bringing a pang of pain in your back. His has an expression of anger crossed with worry and panic. "(Y/N), what did you do? Oh my God. Oh my God!" He sways forward, trying to be as gentle as possible as he lifts you off the ground. You groan again.

"Hostages are free. Wh- (Y/N)!" Leo rushes over, studying you over while you lay limp in Donnie's arms.

"Again," you mumble, "Ow."

"What did you do!?" He scolds, all while maintaining a look of concern. "I told you to stay on the God damn roof!" His arm flies up toward the building roof.

"Yeah, (Y/N)! All that for one freakin' droid? What were you thinkin'?" Raph flails his arms in the air. Mikey simply stands by in shocked silence. He tried his best to halt himself from shouting out how awesome that attack looked.

"That was irresponsible, and stupid, and-" Leo begins, while you're too much in agony and pain to explain the situation. Instead - surprisingly - Donnie speaks up.

"She was SAVING ME!" He screams in Leo's face. The blue clad mutant looks taken aback from Donatello's sudden outburst. That wasn't in his nature at all. "While you were all off on your own battles, (Y/N) was the only one stopping a Kraang droid seconds before blowing my head off! Iust shut up about it and let's get back to the lair!" He finishes his rant with a huff, storming out of the alleyway with you still cradled against his chest. The entire walk back to the lair, you couldn't take your eyes off his face. You were the most shocked at his out burst back in the alley. He knew you were staring. But he didn't care. All he concerned himself with at the time was getting you safe.
