Original characters are an important part of fanfiction. They change the story, often involving a romance, and create original plotlines that capture people's attention.
Or they don't.

Today I am ranting about a very specific type of OC, that makes up more than half of OC's on this website.
I called it the 'copy-paste'.
It is when someone 'invents' a stereotypical Mary-Sue OC and just plonks it right in the middle of the original story, for the sole purpose of falling in love with the main character, but not at all affecting the plot. They even steal lines from other characters and are literally 'pasted' into original scenes.
This drives me up the fucking wall.

Can people please keep this bullshit in their head? You are basically rewriting and butchering the story and infringing copyright! How hard is it to make an ORIGINAL plotline?
