Piandao lunged forward, swinging his sword four times, alternating between striking at Sokka and Mangetsu. The strikes were blocked, Sokka stepping forward to stab at his master, while Mangetsu seemed to dance around the old man's back, bringing his sword down in a graceful slashing motion. Piandao moved his head aside, blocking Mangetsu's blade with his own while kicking Sokka back. Sokka landed on the ground with a thud, while Mangetsu retreated a little to distance himself and Piandao while circling back towards Sokka.

Sokka leapt to his feet, jumping over a sweeping slash from Piandao, aimed at his shins, while Mangetsu took advantage of the opening to lead with a stabbing motion, which Piandao spun away from.

Sokka lunged forward next, as Mangetsu spun behind him. Piandao deflected Sokka's sword, striking him with his pommel, knocking Sokka back several feet, before Mangetsu leapt over the fallen Sokka and brought his sword down in a deadly arc that was blocked. Piandao pushed back on the smaller boy, sending him sprawling. Mangetsu used his momentum to roll back onto his feet. He and Sokka jumped up onto the bridge's posts. Mangetsu stepped back onto the railing while Sokka leapt over onto the post he had abandoned when Piandao slashed at his feet. Piandao spun around, aiming for Sokka's foot again, only for Sokka to leap onto the next railing. Piandao stabbed again, but Sokka jumped off the rail and rolled to the side, then under the blade as Piandao struck again. Sokka blocked a series of strikes before leaping back up onto the railing. Piandao swung his sword again, but Sokka leapt away at the end of the bridge.

"Excellent!" Piandao said. "Using your superior agility against an older opponent... smart."

He spun around, catching Mangetsu's strike with his sword and pushing the blonde back again.

"Using your ally as a distraction in order to strike at me when I am not looking," Piandao said approvingly. "Very clever."

Mangetsu fell back, circling back around towards Sokka, who had managed to catch his breath in the brief reprieve that Mangetsu had won him. Piandao charged them, pushing them back up a large stone stairway, alternating his strikes between them and keeping them on the defensive. Mangetsu fell further back, and Sokka wound up pushed up against the wall of the stairway. He deflected a thrust upward, ducking as the blade sliced a line into the wall above his shoulder. Piandao swung his sword around his head and body in two large circles, with Sokka barely dodging them as he cartwheeled out of the way, Mangetsu leaping back, down the stairs. Sokka spun around, hopping about a foot off the ground and pushing off the wall to propel himself forward with his sword extended. Again, Piandao deflected the attack, forced back towards Mangetsu, whose blade he blocked, while Sokka rolled across the stair to the other wall and climbed on top.

"Good use of terrain..." Piandao commented. "Fighting from the high ground."

Sokka swung down with his sword, but Piandao managed to parry the blade and swing at Sokka, who nimbly - though not gracefully - dodged the weapon. Piandao then thrust his sword at Sokka, who pinned it under his own blade, weighing it down with his feet. Mangetsu moved in, seeing an opening when Piandao attempted to wrench his blade free but couldn't. Instead, Piandao leaned forward, pushing up on his blade, causing Sokka to lose his balance and fall back into tall stalks of bamboo. Before Piandao could take advantage of Sokka's fallen state, Mangetsu pulled Piandao's attention back to him. His eyes flickered between the sword in Piandao's hand and his feet, a slight smirk touching his face as he shifted slightly, causing the sun which was behind him to strike Piandao's eyes.

He winced, moving to try to get the sun out of his eyes, but when he looked again, the blonde was nowhere to be seen. He turned sharply to see that Sokka had regained his footing and raised his sword to charge Sokka.
