Ryes POV
"Okay, I'm going to show you again" I chuckle at Willow who tried really hard to tie her shoes
"Now remember, cross over, loop, bunny ears, cross, loop then do that a second time" I instruct and I let her do her other shoe, while she finishes getting ready I take the twins individually to their small chairs at the table while dad makes breakfast and mom gets dressed. I get the twins their cups while also trying not to bump dad as he carefully makes different shaped pancakes.
We all sit at the table and eat our breakfast, I go over a book that we're currently reading at school. Once I read enough and finished eating I go and wash my plate and cutlery so mom doesn't have to do it later on. Willow and I put on all of our warm winter gear as we get ready to go to school
"Okay, so your lunches are packed. Willow, remember to stay outside the gate of school and wait for Rye" mom explains, she's always been anxious to let us walk to school on our own
"Don't worry, mommy. I won't forget, I promise" Willow replies as she hugs her, then I walk over and hug mom
"Have a great day, precious" she says kissing my forehead and I go on my tippy toes to kiss her cheek
"You too. Bye dad!" I call out as Willow and I walk out the door in the already light snowed ground, I hold Willows hand as we walk down the street, a few minutes later we meet up with Axel and the twins who now walk in front with Willow
"So? Is this the day that you speak to Kaytlyn? It's nearly Christmas you know" he asks, smirking at me but I just roll my eyes
"I don't think I'll ever be brave enough to talk to her. I don't want you to either, we both know that you are very loose lipped" I answer
"Reason why I am your best friend" he grins, we get to Willows school and she looks up at me
"Be good, rascal. Have a good day and wait here for me" I say but she frowns, I kneel down to her level with a concerned look
"What's wrong, Will?" I ask
"Do you have to go? Can you stay till the girls leave me alone?" She asks causing me to frown
"What girls?" I question, she points over to a group of girls pointing and giggling at Willow
"Are they bothering you?" I ask and she shrugs
"They say that I'm not a girl because I don't wear dresses or girly things" she frowns, I try not to get too angry, instead, I take her hand and walk into her school yard and up to the girls picking on Willow
"I hear you're picking on my baby sister? You guys are going to leave her alone or else I'll be back with our parents. They'll have a long talk with yours and I promise you that won't end well, so, leave Willow alone or else I will be back to remind you" I growl at the girls, not caring how old they are, no one bullies my baby sister, the girls quickly run away hopefully scared
"Thank you, Rye! You're the best big brother!" Willow says hugging me
"You don't have to thank me, Willow. Just tell me when they do it again, okay?" I reply and she nods, I kiss her cheek before saying a last goodbye with one more hug and I join Axel on our walk to our school.

+I stare at the back of Kaytlyns head as she writes in her book, why am I so scared to talk to her? She's just a girl... who I have deep feelings for. How can a girl be so beautiful? Or as kind and outgoing as Kaytlyn is, I list in my head of all the things that I love and admire about her but the list just gets longer and longer until I run out of paper, still needing more to write. Being in my stuck gaze, I didn't realise that she's looking right at me, she throws me a beautiful smile which cause my stomach to do some kind of flip, I give her a smile but I can feel my face heat up as she turns back around.

FanfictionThis takes place in district 13 after Katniss was rescued from the arena but there's a twist to this story, shes survived while being seven months pregnant. Peeta has still been captured but I don't really make him hijacked in this story.
