Ice Skating

Rachel's P.O.V:

The air is chilly outside as a cold breeze blows against my face, making me shiver a little while I hug Chloe's arm tightly as we wait in line for our tickets for the ice rink. I'm so not used to the cold since it's always so warm in Arcadia Bay. We've been in New York for three days now and it's been the best vacation ever, even if it is cold as fuck at this time of year! We definitely both needed this vacation, things haven't been easy for us lately after what happened in the darkroom. For the first two nights we explored the city and yesterday we went skiing. It's the first time I've ever been skiing and I loved it so much. I'd even go as far as to say I'm a professional at it now. Chloe on the other hand.. isn't. She fell over so many times yesterday and spent almost all of her time on the floor instead of actually attempting to learn anything. The thought makes me giggle and Chloe turns her attention to me with an eyebrow raised. "What's so funny, Amber?" She asks as she wraps her arm around my shoulders in an attempt to keep me warm when she notices that I'm shivering.

I giggle again in response before wrapping an arm around Chloe's waist and leaning up slightly to give her a quick kiss on the cheek. "Oh, nothing. I'm just thinking about how many times you fell on your ass yesterday. And now you're gonna fall on your ass even more today. I think it's safe to say that you're not very good at balancing." I tell her with an innocent smile. Chloe gasps in mock offence at what I said and then she narrows her eyes at me in a playful glare. "Hey, I tried my best! And I'm not going to fall today, in fact I'm going to be even better than you." She states boldly with a playful pout. I hold back a giggle and scoff instead, quickly shaking my head. "I don't think so, Price. Just please don't fall and break your leg or something. I know you're accident prone." I tell her playfully as we finally reach the front of the line where the ticket booth is. "Wow babe, thanks for shooting down my ego." Chloe tells me in a jokingly annoyed tone of voice. She then reaches into her pocket and takes out some money to pay for the tickets.

After our tickets are handed to us and checked by security, we walk into the building where the ice rink is. Surprisingly, the ice rink isn't as busy as I thought it would be which is a good thing because today I just want it to be me and Chloe. We hand our shoes into the woman behind the counter and in return, she presents us with two pairs of ice skates. I smile and take my ice skates, sitting down on a near by bench as I start to put them on. "This is going to be so cool! I've only ever been ice skating once and I'm actually not that bad at it." I tell Chloe and glance over at her to find that she's also putting her ice skates on. "Well I've never been skating before, so you better keep hold of my hand otherwise I'm probably gonna fall again." She tells me with a light chuckle before she stands up and offers her hand to me. I smile warmly and take her hand while pulling myself up off the bench and we make our way over to the entrance of the rink.

The ice rink is quite big and it has strobe lights placed all around it with a few speakers which are currently playing the newest pop songs. Chloe wrinkles her nose slightly and looks over at me. "Dude, the music in here is shit. They should be playing Firewalk songs!" She tells me as we reach the entrance of the rink. I roll my eyes playfully and then look over at her as I slowly step onto the ice and let go of her hand. "You're at an ice rink, not a concert! Now get your ass onto the ice before I make you." I tell her with a smirk. Chloe glances down at the ice and looks unsure for a moment, before she glances up at me again with the same uncertainty on her face. I can't help but to smile at how cute and nervous she looks. "Come on, I won't let you fall. Just keep hold of my hand and you'll be fine." I tell her reassuringly as I offer my hand out to her. Chloe returns my smile and looks a little more confident as she takes my hand and hesitantly puts one foot onto the ice.

Once she's confident enough, Chloe grins and lets go of my hand. "Oh, this isn't as bad as I thought! I don't get why people fall over so-" But before she has a chance to finish her sentence, Chloe puts her other foot onto the ice too quickly and almost slips over in the process, yelping in surprise as she does so. Luckily I'm not too far away from her and I quickly manage to grab her, wrapping my arms around her waist from behind to keep her standing up. "Jesus Chloe, you've only just got onto the ice and you're already falling!" I tell her between giggles as I help her stand up straight again, but this time I'm sure to keep a hold of her hand. Chloe giggles too and sighs in relief as she glances over at me with a warm smile. "Well luckily my angel was there to save me, hm?" She asks with that loving gaze she always gives me. I feel my face grow a little warmer as I blush and return her smile. Only Chloe can make me feel so warm in such a freezing cold room. "Come on, we'll stick together." I tell her as we start to skate around the rink together, hand in hand.

After a while of skating around, Chloe seems to be getting the hang of this, or so I think. "Hey Rachel, you literally look like Rudolph right now. Your nose is all red from the cold." Chloe tells me before snickering with amusement at her own statement. I glance over at her and give her a playful glare. "And you look like Santa with your big red coat. It even has fur on the hood!" I tease. Chloe groans and nudges my shoulder playfully as we continue to skate round. "Listen, this is the only coat they had left in the store that was my size! It's not my fault that I left my other coat at home! You were rushing me when we were packing our suitcases, so technically it's your fault!" She complains to me with a pout. I give her a playful glare and shake my head in disagreement. "Well maybe you shouldn't of left packing until literally ten minutes before we had to get to the airport!" I tell her in a jokingly stern tone of voice.

Chloe loses all concentration and turns her full attention to me with her eyes narrowed. "Well maybe you should of actually helped me pack, instead of just sitting there and watching me!" She tells me jokingly. I don't even have a chance to reply as Chloe trips over my foot since she's not paying attention to where she's going, and as she falls, she takes me down with her because she's still holding my hand. We both fall with a yelp of surprise, but instead of falling onto the ice, I fall directly on top of Chloe instead. We both stay on the floor, stunned as to what just happened but when we both look at each other, we both burst out laughing. "O-Oh my God, are you alright?" I ask between giggles, using my hand to gently caress Chloe's cheek. Chloe giggles and nods as she reaches her hand to the back of her own head and groans quietly. "I hit my head but I'm fine. I'm just glad you didn't get hurt. It's a good thing you fell on top of me, I just saved your life. I'm your knight in shining armour!" She tells me dramatically which makes me laugh even more.

"Well, every 'knight in shining armour' deserves a kiss, right?" I ask with a slight smirk and watch as Chloe's cheeks turn a light shade of red. Chloe then nods her head as she glances down at my lips for a moment, before she looks back into my eyes. "Kiss me.." She whispers with a smile as she props herself up on her elbows and leans up. I smile and lean down a little to meet her half way as our lips meet in a gentle kiss. Our kiss continues just as softly and it feels as though it's only me and Chloe in the world in this moment. When we both have to pull away for air, we both gaze into each other eyes and smile warmly. "Come on, we can continue this when we get back to our hotel room." I whisper flirtatiously to her with a wink as I stand up and gently pull Chloe up with me. Chloe blushes again and giggles with a slight smirk on her face. "I'll remember you said that.." She whispers to me, before giving me another quick peck on the lips and then she takes my hand again as we both continue to skate together, forgetting about all of our problems.
