Rachel's P.O.V:
All is quiet in the house as I stand in the kitchen, continuing to cook dinner as I hum along quietly to a song on the radio. I give a quick glance over to the clock on the kitchen wall, the time reading 6:15 PM. Chloe and Ashly should be back any moment. Ever since we've adopted Ashly, everything has been more perfect than it already was. Once me and Chloe had gotten married and talked about having a family together, we had come to a decision that we wanted to adopt a child. After signing a few papers, we both visited a near by orphanage and when we set eyes on Ashly, we just couldn't resist adopting her. Her perfect blue eyes and adorable smile made her irresistible to us. Ashly's biological mother had died at birth and her father didn't want anything to do with her, so that's how she ended up at the orphanage. Ashly has been in our lives for a year now and she'll be turning four years old in a couple of weeks. Adopting a child is one of the best things me and Chloe have ever done. It's calmed us both down a lot and we've even stopped taking drugs and we both have a job. I work weekends at a bar while studying Drama at university throughout the week, and Chloe has just started a part time job as a mechanic. Life couldn't be better now that we've finally gotten away from Arcadia Bay and now we're living our dream in LA just like we had always wanted.
Another ten minutes pass before I hear the front door swing open, followed by footsteps coming towards the kitchen in a fast pace. I smile to myself and turn around just in time to see Ashly run into the kitchen with a smile on her face. She's holding a new teddy bear that Chloe probably bought her while they were out. Ashly rushes over to me and hugs my leg, holding her teddy bear up as if to show me. "Mom, look what I got!" She tells me in excitement as she continues to smile. I giggle and kneel down so that I'm eye level with her. "That's nice, sweetie. Did you have a good time while you were out with mommy?" I ask before leaning forward to give her a quick kiss on the forehead, moving some of her curly blond hair out of her face as I do so. Ashly nods in reply as she hugs the teddy bear to her chest. "Yes, we went to the park and I went on the swings and then we went shopping." She tells me with a smile.
I nod and smile as I stand up. "Oh, so where is-" But before I can finish my sentence, I feel someone wrapping their arms around my waist as they hug me from behind and I instantly know who it is. "I'm right here, I didn't know you missed me that much." Chloe whispers jokingly to me as she giggles and rests her chin on my shoulder, giving my cheek a quick kiss. I smile warmly and hug Chloe's arms, turning my head slightly to look at her. "Took you long enough to get home, of course I missed you." I tell her as I pull away from her embrace to turn around and give her a quick kiss on the lips. Chloe smiles at me as I pull away and then she gently pats Ashly's head which causes her to giggle. "This one is going to make me poor, do you know how much that teddy bear cost me? It cost me forty dollars!" Chloe tells me jokingly which causes me to laugh and shake my head to myself. "Well she totally gets it from you, always wanting things and not stopping until she gets them." I tell Chloe and she looks over at me, shooting me a playful glare.
Ashly giggles and looks up at Chloe, sticking her tongue out at her playfully. Chloe gasps in mock offense when she notices. "Ashly Price, did you just pull tongues at me? Do you know what's going to happen now?" Chloe asks with a smirk. Ashly giggles and shakes her head as she takes a few steps away from Chloe, preparing to run. "Nooo, mommy!" She tells her as she tries to run off, but before she can, Chloe picks her up and sits Ashly on her shoulders. Ashly squeals in surprise and then giggles again, taking Chloe's hands so that she wouldn't fall. I smile warmly as I watch them both. We both know what's it's like to have a broken home. My real mom was a drug addict who abandoned me for years. My dad had lied about her to me for my whole life. Chloe's dad had died when she was a child, causing her and her mom to drift apart when she remarried. We both just want Ashly to have the best in life and we're gonna make damn sure that she's as happy as can be.
"Alright, alright dinner's almost ready! Both of you sit down before you hurt yourselves." I tell them jokingly and walk over to them, giggling as I help Ashly down from Chloe's shoulders. Ashly smiles as she rushes over to the table and sits down on one of the chairs to wait for her dinner as she starts to doddle on a piece of paper with one of her crayons. I smile and turn back to the stove, continuing to cook. Chloe smiles and hugs me from behind once again, gently swaying us to the song that's on the radio. "Need any help with anything, babe?" She whispers as she nuzzles her nose into the ticklish part of my neck and I laugh, squirming a little as I do so. "Well you can stop being a distraction and go and put the plates on the table." I tell Chloe in a jokingly stern tone of voice, turning around to face her as I hand her two plates of food and give her a kiss on the lips. Chloe rolls her eyes jokingly and then gives me a smirk. "I didn't hear you complaining about my 'distractions' last night, Mrs Price.." She whispers with a wink as she walks over to the table and places the plates down on the table.
I blush a little and clear my throat as I take a smaller plate for Ashly, walking over to the table as I smile and place it in front of her, handing her a small fork. "Here you go kiddo, eat up." I tell her as I take my seat next to Chloe at the table and we all start to eat. After we've all finished eating, I notice that Ashly is rubbing her eyes which is a sign that she's getting tired. Chloe also notices this as she smiles and stands up, kissing my forehead. "How about you go and get cuddly on the couch with Ashly and we'll put on a movie after I clean up?" Chloe suggests. I nod my head and stand up, picking Ashly up as I walk into the living room with her and sit on the couch. Ashly yawns quietly and rests her head on my shoulder as she closes her eyes, already half asleep. I giggle quietly and use my hand to gently rub her back, kissing the top of her head as I wait for Chloe to join us.
After a while, Chloe walks into the living room and joins us on the couch after setting up the DVD player and putting a movie on. As she sits down, Chloe wraps an arm around my shoulders and I smile as I rest my head on her shoulder, making sure to keep hold of Ashly as I continue to cuddle her while watching the movie. Chloe smiles and kisses the top of Ashly's head, before doing the same to me. "You get more and more beautiful everyday, you know?" She whispers to me, keeping her voice down so that she wouldn't wake Ashly up. I blush a little and smile as I lift my head slightly to look into Chloe's eyes. "Says you. Our family is perfect now. Ever since you've came into my life everything has been so much better. Thank you so much." I whisper back to her. Chloe smiles lovingly at me and leans in, giving me a kiss on the lips. Our kiss is gentle and lasts a few seconds before we both pull away and turn our attention back to the screen of the TV as we continue to cuddle. I can't help but smile again as I close my eyes and rest my head back on Chloe's shoulder, cuddling Ashly in my arms.
