Harumi pov:

"Grandpa! I got the clay!" I called out as I stepped into the house. I dragged the heavy bag of moist earth into the house as well and wiped the sweat off my brow after I had closed the door.

"Haru chan, you're back! Good, good!" Grandpa said and trotted out from the pottery room. I opened the bag for him to have a look at the clay and he put his hand into the bag to gather some clay in his hand and feel the texture. He frowned slightly and bonked me on the head with his free hand making me yelp.

"Grandpa!" I whined though he gave me a scolding look.

"This rascal.....I told you to get the better quality one! Children these days....so forgetful," he muttered and I pouted.

"Grandpa....Kazuma san said that he was out of stock. This was the next best he had and he gave it with a 20% discount!" I explained but cringed as my grandpa held his fist up, threatening to bonk me again. He muttered something under his breath and lowered his hand. I couldn't help but chuckle softly – that's my grandpa for you! He has a way of teasing me and being nice at the same time. "Besides, Grandpa, Kazuma san said that the clay that we wanted won't come in for another 2 weeks. We have to finish an order by the end of this week, so we have to suffice with this."

"Honestly, no one can do anything right these days..." he said with a sigh and I giggled again.

I held his shoulders with a cute pout and said, "Aww, Grandpa! Don't be mean to me."

"Okay, okay, you win this time," he responded with a shake of his head and I cheered, throwing my hands up in the air like a little kid.

I dragged the bag of clay into the pottery room and placed it in one of the air tight storage pots in the corner of the room. Grandpa walked in after me and waddled to the window of the pottery room which had been made into a small garden with a variety of potted plants. The plants had dried up, their leaves dull and gray, and Grandpa beckoned for me to join him. When I was next to him, he darted his eyes over the plants and then back to me and I nodded with a smile.

I brought my hand up to wave it slowly over the flowers and we watched as they sprung back to life almost instantly, the leaves turning supple green and a few flower buds blooming beautifully too. My smile widened and turned to Grandpa who patted my head affectionately while returning my smile.

He walked out of the pottery room after that and I lost my smile as I looked back at the plants. I gave a soft sigh, my eyes prickling and a lump forming in my throat as I remembered a distant and painful memory of when we were in Okinawa. It was because of that incident that we had to leave everything behind and start a new life here in Tokyo. Even when we came here, I was very scared to talk to anyone and usually stayed in my lonely shell because I was barely ten years old and the incident had left deep scars in my heart.

The scars were still there, but they weren't as painful anymore and I learned to hide my ability so I wouldn't become an outcast again.

I didn't even have the slightest idea why I had this strange ability to begin with. It was something I had never heard of or seen in anybody else and I couldn't really deny that this ability of mine was sort of freaky. I mean, I could bring stuff to life! Plants, occasionally some animals I saw in the park...and I could probably do the same to humans too; that is if I ever tried.

The first time I had accidentally used this ability was just after my parents died. Well, I never knew I had this ability and it startled me when I brought a small rose plant back to life. It was a gift from my parents that I really cherished because it was the last gift I had received from them. It was very important to me and I took care of it will all the love I could possibly give.
