It was 10 pm when I came back home. At 5 I had went to Emma's house to pick up the homework after talking with Dana and Mom for a bit more. I had hung out with her doing homework for an hour when the whole gang; Natalie, Nathan, Jake and Kyle entered the house. We all watched a movie and hung out together having fun while time flew away. I didn't know how late it had gotten till I had found my phone on the couch with twenty text messages and double the missed calls from Chace. After checking the messages which all said the same 'Where are you??', and deleting the missed calls; I waved good bye to my friends who were going to have a sleepover at Emma's house and quickly put my car in gear.

All the lights of the house were turned on when I reached it and I entered the house shocked.

"Marques? Why are you awake so late?" I called when I heard rustling and someone was in front of me.

"Alex!" The guy exclaimed in relief, his umber hair falling in his grey eyes messily.

"Chace?" I asked confused.

"Where were you?" He demanded as he came near me. "Why were you out so late?"

"I was with my friends -hanging out."

"And you didn't even think of telling me? I was calling you and you didn't even pick up!"

"My cell phone was silent and on the couch. I came as soon as I saw the time."

His nose flared. "Well not soon enough! Do you know how worried I -" he cut himself off abruptly, looking away from me in the process.

I felt a slow smile spread across my face. "You were worried about me?"

"Of course not!" he huffed. "Mom called and asked where you were because she wanted to talk you. When I told her you were not here she got worried and made me call to check up on you," he lied, his grey eyes flickering.

My smile widened. "But Dana already knew where I was. I had met up with her earlier and then went over to my friend's house," I crossed my arms over my chest grinning like a Cheshire cat. "Admit it; you were worried about me."

He clenched his jaw and stubbornly looked away. "I wasn't worried," he insisted.

"Whatever you say."

Chace hesitated. "Were you at... Nathan's house?"

"What if I was?"

He looked at me in anger. "He is just a boy. You should be with a man."

I looked at him in amusement. He was jealous... hmm, let's have some fun then. "You are right. I should be with a man. Marques is a man is he not? What do you think of him?" I asked innocently.

Chace clenched his fists in anger. "Marques is gay," he blurted out.

I gaped at him. Yeah right. "And how would you know?"

"He tried to kiss me."

I raised an eyebrow. "You know, you're really bad at lying Chace," I said and started to pass him. "And by the way I was at my friend Emma's house," I hesitated when I reached the stairs. "Also, you are really sweet for worrying about me and look awfully cute when you get jealous." I said and rushed upstairs, my laughter muffled in my hand.

"I wasn't worried!" he called back. "And I wasn't jealous!" he insisted.

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever helps you sleep at night Chace!" I called back and went into fits of laughter when I reached my room.

I woke up the next morning with a smile on my face. Last night's events were still fresh in my mind and gave me hope that I might just be able to convince Chace about the truth and work out this marriage. After dressing myself up in jean shorts and a ruffled top over it and high heels, I skipped downstairs for breakfast.
