I walked happily in the house. It had been already a week since I was here and this was the first time I was kind of happy. My job interview was a success…well not entirely considering my boss was a smart ass who was obviously going to make me work my ass off…but at least I wouldn’t have to go to that goddamned honeymoon.
“You seem happy” I heard a voice and turned around, coming face to face with my sister in law Katherine. I nod happily. I was about to tell her that I got a job.
“Excited about the honeymoon I see.” She said and my smile faded. How did she know?
“Dorian said you needed clothing and you did not have time to shop. So I got these for you” she said as I looked down at the suitcases besides her. Shit! This was getting real…but too late for Mr Arrogant. I had a job now. I couldn’t wait for him to get home so I could see his face when I tell him about it.
“Ah daydreaming about your honeymoon already” Katherine sighed and winked at me.
“I really need to go now. I have a show in 30 minutes” she said and rushed off, leaving those expensive looking suitcases. I asked Harold to take them to my room after which I dragged them to the adjoining room. I wouldn’t be needing these, so he better keep it.
That night, I waited patiently for him to finish his meeting and for his colleagues to go. I sat on bed, reading a book, but my mind relishing the thought of refusing him his so called revenge.
I heard footsteps and heard his door open and closed. I smiled. He was hear. This was the moment. I walked to the sliding door and knocked.
“What?” he asked rudely as he opened the door. He was as usual in a perfectly fitted suit though he did look tired.
“I wanted to talk to you” I said and he seemed to consider it. He nodded and moved away from the door, motioning me to come in.
I walked in and stood before his desk.
“About that honeymoon” I was starting when he gave me his death glare.“What about it?” he asked, while organizing some papers on his desk?
“We cannot go” I stated simply.
He looked at me, again as though he could just strangle me. “And how did you conclude that?” he asked.
I smiled gloriously. “Well, because I got a job…as a trainee of course. And they will not let me go as soon as they hire me” I said and smiled triumphantly.
He crossed his hands around his chest and looked serious.
“And where did YOU get a job?” quite literally implying that I was not capable of securing a job.
I scoffed. “A huge company” I said and at his expectant look, I added “GlobalTech”
He just stared at me. There you go you arrogant man. You thought I was not good and yet the biggest tech company hired me. Your honeymoon plans goes to mush.
“GlobalTech hired you?” he asked and I nodded.
He actually did look troubled by the news. I started feeling pity for causing someone unnecessary burden, but then I thought back on how arrogant he was and deserved it.
He looked at me with those deadly silver eyes. “You are enjoying this…aren’t you?” he asked, looking right through me.
I wanted to lie, and say no, but for all his arrogance, I looked squarely at him, and said “You won’t believe how much” and walked off to my room, firmly closing the door.
