Naruto was broken, Sai experienced pain for the first time after his brother was 'killed', and Garra was heartbroken.
When Naruto got to the tower and un-raveled the two scrolls Iruka appeared. Iruka saw his student and someone he thought of as a little broken looking so broken and lifeless. "Naruto whats wrong?"
Naruto looked up at Iruka for a second "nothing Iruka-sensei now I got to go, go do whatever you were doing earlier... and Sai you should go back to the team."
Sai reluctantly left as he wanted to stay and comfort his friend, but he couldn't leave the two Genin by themselves as much as Sakura probably wanted them to be. When Naruto went into the tower he saw Garra talking to Anko and Ibiki. Naruto ran towards Garra hoping to speak to him. But Garra started to walk away before stopping for a moment to turn back. With a voice colder than ice and more emotionless then Sasuke "Naruto we are over and unless hell freezes over we are not going to get back together."
Naruto tried to hold back the tears as Anko and Ibiki Congratulate him for beating the Fourth hokage's record and coming in second. Mid-sentence Naruto left.
Naruto went into a room provided for anyone in the exam since they can't leave until all 5 days are up. He looked into the mirror and released the gen jutsu. He looked at himself with disgust he truly looks like a disgusting monster.
When he was younger he remembers hearing pain is good it tells you hey your not dead yet...then am I alive my heart aches yet I can no longer feel physical pain. It isnt like it will matter no one loves him. Who could he is just a monster? Sai will get over it and Naruto would have to be blind not to see the glaces at ino. In everyone else eyes he is a monster. With a trembling hand he ties a rope into circle. He can hear kurama's voice in the background screaming it isn't worth it. But it falls on deaf ears. Naruto ties the rope to the ceiling light. He stands on a chair and puts his head thru the rope. Finally he kicks the chair away with a bitter sweet smile as he starts to fade away.
