Erwin is a battle-hardened dragoon who has made himself a legend among his pupils and those who bow to him. He has fought the most dragons and has slain the most when he must. They say he wield's the "Dragon's Rage" when he fights, referring to his dragon spirit inside of him. He once ruled the kingdom of Dorago before he was forced off of his throne by Kar's rule. Seeking revenge, he joined the rebellion to gather an army to take back Dorago.
His younger years were considered to be "Not the best" as he was taken to war straight upon reaching adulthood. His anger has rivaled his fellow comrades and dueled his way to the top ranks, eventually earning Dorago's respect by giving him his golden armor and Obsidian Spear, which is named "Gae Bulg"
He rivals Cid's choices most of the time due to his arrogance, but he does his best to keep his soldiers prepared until the day he reclaims Dorago.
