Chapter 23 : Plot Twist

ALEXA'S POV

My alarm starts blaring at 7am in the morning. After snoozing it, just a couple million times, I push the blanket off. It's the 16th, my last test in school and CNCO's last show in Miami.

I check my lock screen and roll my eyes.

Erick 💙 : 10 missed calls
Erick 💙 : 15 unread messages

Thank goodness for Do Not Disturb mode, otherwise I would've beaten him up for waking me up.

I scroll through all the messages, they're all similar, 'we need to talk', 'wake up', 'stop ignoring me'.

I text back,

Me : New phone, who dis?

He replies in a moment.

Erick : You're finally up? Good morning. WE NEED TO TALK. What's with you and Joel?

Me : No, probably not. Goodbye.

Erick :
DON'T .
YOU.
DARE.
LEAVE.

Me : Well, watch me. I don't want to talk.

Erick : Why?!

Me : Bye. I'll (unfortunately) see you later.

Erick : Just talk to me, please, Mami.

Me : Oh sorry, wrong person. Last time I checked, I'm not Simone Remington. 😑

I keep my phone away. I need an explanation, which he doesn't have, so I'm not talking to him.

I have a bath and put on a pink tank top and a pair of blue ripped jeans. Melanie texted me a while ago and said that she is dropping me to school today. I walk to the kitchen and grab a bowl of cereal.

"Hola, papá!" I say as I sit down.
He smiles, "Hola, Lexi! What did Dr. Sullivan say?"

"She asked me to do things that used to make me happy. It's actually working because I haven't had a nightmare since I've started singing and playing the guitar again."

My mom joins us, "Wait, what? You're singing again?" I nod.

"THAT IS AMAZING, DARLING!" Dad kisses my forehead.

"So, are you ready to go to Argentina?" Mom asks.

"Yes! I can't wait!" I reply, eagerly. Dad gets a phone call and so he excuses himself and goes out to answer it.

"I saw the picture of you and Joel at the pizzeria." Mom grins.
